Buying expired domains and flipping

Hi everyone.

I am trying out a new strategy at the moment. This involves buying expired domains with PR, then setting up a site on it, and then selling it on Flippa.

I'm thinking I would get around $200-400 for a PR if it is on a good topic like casino etc?

Anyone else do this? Does it work well for you?

Thanks,

Don't the PR status reset after a domain drops? If a domain has a good amount of backlinks it might be a good idea. I personally watch domain dropping sites for domains that might be interesting to build a business around and then flip that business.

If you are thinking of just selling the domains one by one,
then it will be more beneficial if they have traffic as well as
PR. Flippa buyers prefer traffic and/or earnings to just PR.

If you are planning on doing this make sure you watch out for fake pr.

I go through expired domains almost on a daily basis and I cant even tell you how many of them have a fake pagerank.

I would try selling ones as a straight flip and also try building back some of the traffic for others and see which way is more efficient.

The market for high PR domains (no sites) is pretty steady so you should at least be able to get your money back on the initial purchase.

Make sure you do some analysis of the backlink status of the domain before you pruchase. This is the easiest way to find a dud. Open Site Explorer is a great place to start.

Traffic is a must for flipping, unless you picked up a future gadget domain or something.

The domain will probably lose its PR fully or partially when it is dropped, and then picked up again by you.

I managed to get two PR3 domains today. I did a check for fake PR using tool I have, and it passed. I do see quite a lot of fake PR domains, about 30% are fake. I will make a wordpress blog and add articles. Try and monetise if possible, and then offer for sale and hope for good return. Also hope that the PR dosen't drop, but it is hard to say, this is why I want to sell it as fast as possible

This is not how you should do business. It's not ethical. You do not want that happen to you, right?

It's fine to buy a high PR site. But then you should make sure that it really continues to be a high PR site. You can achieve that by building a site similar to the one that used to be there and then keeping it updated.

If you do good job you can actually turn a PR3 into a PR 4 or PR5. Then you can really cash in and everybody wins:

You pocket a couple thousand dollars for writing a couple good articles and publishing them on a regular basis. Your customer gets a web site that has a good foundation and a good future.

Imagine how your bank account will look in a couple month if you carefully grow several of those sites and sell each one for lets say $10k.

I take $50k to $80k all day long for a side project compared to a few measly bucks and on top a bunch of angry customers and not to speak about all the bad karma that you would collect.

I tried this for a while with no real success. The only reason that I go through recently dropped domains is to pick up any good ones that I think might have some potential and either try to sell them right away or build a site on them. Most of the sites that I make with these domains are quick turnkey ones that I'll just sell fast on Flippa for a small profit.

How much do you pay for an expired domain? I paid $10 for a PR3

That's a real good price. I would check to make sure the page rank is valid and not fake. If the domain has good page and domain authority as well you did a real good job.

A good PR site off for some time then it may lose the PR and might be SERP reputation. Fine if you are buying good PR sites, but check properly for how much time they are off.
