Using wordpress for almost all my websites as well.

I actually converted a few non-wordpress websites into wordpress by developing custom themes matching the old design - not an easy task but well worth it

Unfortunately it won't be possible to measure or even to estimate that from this poll, because the wording of your title-line has made certain that the replies will be mostly from a self-selected group who do use Wordpress. Most people who don't use it at all won't even read the thread. Your wording has predicated the responses you'll get.

No ... I would avoid using the word Wordpress in the title. That's the problem. That's what attracts Wordpress users to the relative exclusion of others, isn't it?

People with Wordpress sites will find their eye drawn to a thread with "Wordpress" in the title, I think? So they're more likely to reply and the results are all skewed for that reason?

It's not going to be easy, however you do it, but what about "Which Content Management System Do You Use" and then give a long list of all the well-known different ones (i.e. not just "Wordpress" and "Not Wordpress"!), with "other" as the last option on the list? A little more objective, that way, maybe?

As it is, you have people with Wordpress services advertised in their sig-files noticing the title and making sure they get a post in the thread! Not quite so objective, that way?

This wouldn't be the first time polls were skewed by the choices given

But with that said, I always seem to fall back on WordPress, out of familiarity more than anything else. I've tried many of the other CMS software out there and there's no doubt in my mind that they all have their positive attributes. But that 5 minute WP install process hooks me back every time.

There are lots of free tutorial series on YouTube relating to WordPress. Try typing in "WordPress beginners tutorial" or something like that and find a series which covers all the basic aspects of WordPress. I spent about 2 hours watching some videos, and I learn a heck of a lot from it.

I find it really user friendly and uncomplicated to get started.

Current results showing around 78%, quite an eye-opener. Does that mean static html sites have had their day or do they still have an advantage over wordpress under certain circumstances.

Wordpress is great, I use wordpress on most of my websites. Besides there are some great plugins that make using wordpress for IM a great tool.

I like Joomla too, Its a bit more technical but offers a lot of functionality out of the box. But some how i find its easier of hardcore techies to go around joomla.

Wordpress is great to people who are not very technical, but are technically savy.

I use what is required for each project.
Micro niche sites I use mainly wp, but for sites that will be resource intensive I will use joomla.

If I am doing a squeeze page or something similar, most of the time I will use regular html, unless I need a member section or something. No need to populate an extra database when you only need a page or two.

Overall 90% of my sites are in wp.

I do now! Why did I wait so long to "convert?"

I just moved two of my websites and one of my husband's sites over to WP completely and I am loving it! I'm actually even finding the Twenty-Ten theme really easy to customize and it perfectly fits my needs for my blog with all the cool plug-ins.

My bookmarks site was recently rebuilt to a custom CMS and I have WordPress installed for the site's blog; set up to the same theme as the main site too.

I even taught my husband how to do a post in his new WP blog. And teaching him anything on a computer can be challenging at times. But he breezed right through it!

I just need to learn how to make the Lightbox work in WordPress and then I can move my husband's other site completely over to WP too.

Ok, I work for XSitePro so you can expect that I do not use WordPress, but use an application that we have developed here. What I am more interested in is why WordPress is popular? It seems difficult to set up, prone to server crashes loosing all your data and when I go searches, very few WordPress sites come up in the listings. With all these WP websites out there, why are they so low in the rankings.

nb. I do not want to be inflammatory, I am genuinely interested in opinions.
To this effect I do concede that web based website builder can be edited from anywhere, and it is easier for multiple editors to add posts. So do you all move around when adding posts (possible, posting from mobile devices & all) or have a several editors working on the same websites? Please tell me, I am very interested in this.

I like Wordpress and use it for almost all of my sites. One of the best features is when your theme starts to look old and outdated you can switch to a new theme. In an instant you have a brand new looking site!

The fact that WordPress is used by over 14.7% of Alexa's "top 1 million" websites and as of August 2011 manages 22% of all new websites means it has something going for it. WordPress is currently the most popular CMS used in the universe.
