I have started this thread so that everyone can post their favorite free traffic method to give others ideas and help them out.

      Do you pay for services, such as facebook ads?

      I myself am having a hard time building up likes for my facebook fan page....
      Twitter is also not been so great I have 300 followers all real but dont get a single click of traffic from my tweets....

      I know that both of these sources are great! I have seen it countless times in post. I am just slow jumping on that wagon and getting it to work for me.
      No matter what tho I never give up and keep trying. It just hasn't clicked yet i guess

    Facebook can really send a ton of targeted traffic quick.

    • For example you can post something very attractive or interesting (with the picture of course) for your fans. And don't forget to add the link to your site/blog/product. I post weekly contests for our fans and it works great.

      Can't imagine how Twitter can beat Facebook with these text messages. How to attract your followers with your message when they see the thousands of the same messages? Use caps lock?

  • Facebook brings in most of my list. I just use FB to drive interested people to my site. It Works pretty well.

  • I like to kick it old-school... NEWS. Real live Press Releases to real live newspapers, magazines and tv. There's gold buried in the media and very few people know how to extract it.

    • I think SEO is best technique for generate traffic. There are so many SEO technique like Article marketing, forum posting, blog commenting and directory submission. They all free SEO methods are great generating traffic. I like also Facebook and Twitter for free traffic method.

  • The best option is to join the list traffic websites like traffic swarm, list joe, list auction.

    The sites allows you to send email blast to an average of 1000 to 10000 members.
  • For free traffic I rely on social medias and social bookmarking sites. Sites like Reddit, StumbleUpon and Digg provides me huge visits always.

      I think social media marketing and blog commenting is the best way to increase your website traffic. I you these google+ , facebook , Pinterest , Twitter , digg , Stumbleupon etc .

      I have full knowledge about all of these .
  • Blog and forum traffic is the best! It also contributes to better search engine exposure too as its slowly building links at its finest. Facebook is also as awesome but like what I said blog and forums are best in providing traffic for me.

    For me, traffic means targeted traffic, if you want to receive traffic then you need to make sure that they are targeted traffic, traffic from Article Directories, Forums are targeted traffic I would say.
  • I would say list traffic websites like List Auction, Trafficswarm etc. Of course forums, blog commenting (with your signature link) and article writing helps a lot too.

  • You should try Youtube.
    As I know, youtube is #2 best source of traffic after Google
    Try making a video related to your topics/posts, use related video tag also.
  • My top free traffic comes from twitter and youtube, but i honestly think it depends on what kind of website you need it for, some cpa offers can be a hit or miss so maybe use a free traffic source but if you have a personal website devoted to a niche then maybe try free and paid for best results.

      The main thing is to be consistent, it may take a while to see results but keep at it and be consistent.

  • I'm starting to go Big on Document Sharing and Viral Ebooks. I wrote a post about it here http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...echniques.html where I go into more detail.

    I think it's best to try different methods out but give them long enough so you can really tell if they work or not. A week is not long enough to test if a certain traffic method is up to scratch or not..

  • It's a toss up between Social Media and Article Marketing.

    Mainly because Social Media can be used to forge some awesome relations with people as well as connect with some pretty targeted audiences.

    Article marketing is also another very effective way to showcase your value, your expertise and very good positioning.

    I would've said SEO too but I am currently paying for that, lol.

    • This thread really got out of hand with pointless one liners...

      Really? What if I'm promoting my marketing consultancy business and I'm targeting business owners? Is Facebook still a better choice than LinkedIn? Obvious answer is no.

      It's not about what methods you use for traffic, it's about where your target audience spends their time online and how you can reach them.

      For my marketing business, I use LinkedIn and interact in relevant groups. Many groups let you post your articles and content as long as it's good quality and provides value to the group. You can't really do this with Facebook fan pages because on Facebook it looks spammy.

      I also use Twitter to drive traffic both for my consulting offers and for my info products. I gain targeted followers by posting quality info, interacting with people as much as I can, and finding people that are similar to me. Once I find them I start following the people that follow them, and a week later unfollow the ones that didn't follow me back using ManageFlitter.

      I also use guest blogging, seo, video marketing, forum marketing, and looking to try PPC and solo ads.

      Keep in mind it's not the techniques that are important, it's your target audience. My techniques may be totally irrelevant to you.

      Step 1) Determine your target audience
      Step 2) Research and determine how you can reach them online
      (another example, let's say your audience visits a specific website a lot. Do they have Google ads on that website? Could you put up your ads through the Google Display Network? Or can you post your content to that website? Or comment on their posts with a link back to your site? Or do a jv deal with the site owner?)

      You'll have a lot more success if you take this approach.

  • My favorite free traffic method is through youtube. I recreate my articles into powerpoint slides, add some pictures, and read the words as I record the video. Then I upload the video to youtube and dailymotion. I do not upload to other video sharing sites as the number of views is just too little to consider the effort. Next, I find low competition keywords for the video titles and the tags. The good thing about getting traffic from youtube is that it is easier to rank on the first page of google than creating a website as google absolutely loves youtube! Another advantage is that the traffic never dies off but will be consistent over the months. This means that the more video you create, the more traffic you will get!

    Do note that you need to create quality and informative videos to grab the attention of viewers to comment, like your videos or even embed your videos in their website to increase pageviews and traffic. If you are lazy and create 30 seconds video from Animoto or other video creating softwares simply by adding pictures, I am sorry to tell you the truth that you will not generate much traffic. Who would be interested in such videos? You reap what you sow.

  • For me its Youtube. Why? Well because in relative terms Youtube has small competition but is also a huge traffic source. However it is important to know where you are planning to build your traffic from - either the search engines (google) or youtube. Both have different results and both have differnent methods to reaching the top where the traffic utopia is
  • I use to do forum posting too, but video is an option I always wanted to try, I just don't have the talent to create videos. How johntan17 is making videos is an easy and fast way, thanks for sharing.

  • Forum posting has always brought the best quality traffic in for me, but you need to keep consistant at it for a good few months before you see results. Iv'e only just started posting more on the WF and hoping for some good results from my efforts in the coming months :0)
