A Systems Approach to Article/Blog Marketing

Hey everyone.

I'm typing up a quick checklist for myself so I can really treat my article/blog marketing from a systems approach.
I want to be able to simply "go by the numbers" for every article I create via an easy to follow checklist.

Many of the things I've learned have been through all of your posts, I just thought I'd compile them into a nice little checklist to make sure I didn't forget anything.

I'd really appreciate any feedback to this and if you currently do anything different with your articles, please share that - for example - creating press releases with them.
I personally don't do that - but hey - it may give someone else an idea:

---------------------------------------

This is a systematic approach to article or blog posting to maximize the web 2.0 platform:
Bum Marketing on Steroids.

Try this with EVERY article/post you create.
**Again, any suggestions would be appreciated because the process below takes a good couple hours per article.**

Someone suggested maybe spend 2-3 days just writing and then another day on the marketing to split it up.

1. Write your article or blog post:
2. Submit your article to AssociatedContent.com (AC) under a non-exclusive agreement for upfront payment. After all, you might as well get paid since you're going to write the article anyway. Allow about 5 days for review. Exclusive pays more money - but that defeats what we're doing here.
3. Once AC approves your article, post a similar (slightly re-written) article/post on your main blog site.
• Remember to add a small stock image in your post to add a nice professional look to it. This really does make a difference. Here is a sample article of mine on AC - How Many Loyal Customers Does it Take to Generate $100K in Online Sales Per Year? - Associated Content
• Add a "Recommended Reading" list at the end of every blog post and cross link your post on your main blog and other sites/blogs/articles you have.
• Add a subscription form at the end of each one of your blog posts.
4. Go to Pingomatic.com and ping your AssociatedContent.com page once your article gets published.
5. Go to SocialMarker.com and submit your AC Content Page to all the best social media sites.
6. Go to Feedage.com and submit your AC Content Page feed.
7. Submit your AC Content Page feed URL to Google Reader - Not using Google Reader- it's a must - I can explain why later.
8. Add your AC Content Page to your FriendFeed.com profile. Not using FriendFeed - it's a must - I can explain why later.
9. Now go back to the re-written blog post above on your main blog site.
10. You're going to go back to numbers 4 and 5 above and do those for your new blog post. You've already done it for your AC content page.
• I will assume you would have already done numbers 6-8 for your main blog site.
11. Create a few PowerPoint slides from the key points of your post and create a short video presentation using Camtasia or other App.
12. Post that short video to video submission sites like Youtube.com. Make it educational - you can do that in 30 minutes....
13. Create an audio recording from your article by reading it into a mic or outsourcing this and submit that audio .MP3 to audio submission sites.
14. Create a Squidoo Page for the blog post and re-write it a bit for Squidoo and link back to your main blog site.
15. You're going to go back to numbers 4 and 5 above and do those for your new Squidoo Page.
16. Repeat numbers 6 and 7 using your new Squidoo page in place of the AC content page.
17. Keep in mind you're doing all this around a key phrase or select long tail key words of course. Tag every post appropriately.

------------------------------------------------

Well, I think that's all I can think of for my checklist.
What's everyone else doing?
Any suggestions on additional uses of articles/posts to generate traffic?
If you don't have traffic, you just have a bunch of words on a web page.

Hope the above helps spur some ideas:
Cheers.
