It is so easy to say "Thank You" ............

Hi fellow warriors,

In this great forum, it is really easy to GIVE "Thanks" at the click of the button. Most warriors don't do it often enough. I am personally guilty of that.

I have met some wonderful and extremely helpful warriors here. This is something I will always treasure.

I wish I was here when I first started my IM journey. Things would have been a lot smoother with the help of fellow warriors.

On the other hand, It is much harder to EARN / RECEIVE "Thanks" from my observation.

If fellow warriors go out of their way to help us out (often in great length and detail), the least that we can do is to click the button and say "Thanks".

Believe me, this small gesture really means a lot to those who try to help us with their best intention and to the best of their ability.

WF and this world we live in will be a much better place with the attitude of gratitude.

Let me start by saying:

Thank You Warriors

Remember that if you thank fellow warriors on your thread, they are more likely to come back and help you when you start a new thread asking for help.

So it is a win-win situation.

A few days ago I commented on a thread in great length and tried to help as much as possible. The OP thanked me, but 5 minutes later he removed the "Thanks". .......... LOL.

Perhaps my suggestion was not good enough and didn't deserve to be "thanked" after all.

The point is, I will be less likely to offer help if he is asking for it in the near future.

Human nature, I guess.

The more you give, the move you receive.

Sounds like I am preaching. I am NOT.

Have a good day!

Warm regards,

David Loi

P.S.
Thank you for reading my post. If you find it helpful, please share it with other warriors.

Great post and so very true. I am guilty of this myself. I should click that little Thanks button much more than I do.

Thank you for making me stop and think. Modern society seems to have thrown common courtesy out of the window. It's great to know that some still have some of the best old fashioned qualities.

Even we don't see other warriors face to face, we are all real people with real feelings and we all need validation and appreciation.

      Thanks for your comment.

This is not only true for the warriorforum but for nearly all other IM marketing forums I have been around in the last few years.

But to be honest I don't click on the thank you button very often, maybe because quite a amount of posts in forums are worthless or just because I don't think about it in the moment I read the post. So thank you for reopening my eyes again

Great post! I always click 'thanks' when a post gives me good information or someone takes the time to answer my question. I see some warriors who rarely or never thank anyone, even if the person responds directly to help them.

A valid point; but does it really need to be rehashed every few days? I say throw up a short sticky up top: "You get the ability to say thanks after 5 posts. Thank things that are useful, that's what the button was made for."

What am I saying though, no one reads the stickies these days .

Fun fact: the word "thank" in its different forms has now been used 63 times in this thread (including this response).

          Hi Joe,

With all due respect, I think you missed the point completely.

This post is NOT about trying to educate fellow warriors about what the "Thanks" button is for and when to use it.

I am sure we are all smart enough to know that. We are all internet marketers, remember?

I am just saying that we should show gratitude when fellow warriors try their best to help us. Simple as that!

And the SIMPLEST and EASIEST way to show gratitude is by clicking the "Thanks" button which we all know is there for us to use.

Of course we can leave a comment to show gratitude, send a PM, or send a small monetary gift through PayPal (that would be really nice ).

I don't spend a lot of time here so I am not aware that this idea is "rehashed" every 2 to 3 days. I personally haven't come across it.

I wrote this post with the best intention. Is was never my intention to "rehash" anything.

If this post can help just 1 fellow warrior, I've fulfilled my purpose.

From the comments left, quite a number of warriors find it useful. That means I am adding value to WF. That is a good thing, no?

This is a "Thank You" thread. If saying "Thank You" to each other too often really annoys you, I really can't help it.

          Lighten up Joe.

Stay positive and don't dwell on the negatives. Especially when there was no negativity to start with.

          Cheers!

To me, it looks more like a swarm of people saying "Yes thanks are good" in the hope that someone will "thank" them for saying it.

Trust me it doesn't. Foolish assertion to make based on my own "thanks" stats (and the not so hidden fact that I tend to run out of "thanks" to give every day).

Wow, you don't spend a lot of time here. I spend more time trying to make things lively and fun than I do posting seriously about marketing. Searching through someone's post history before making bold assumptions about them can be a wonderful thing .

It's so true. The thanks button is just 1 click, and still...
Most people don't use a thank button because they just 'like' the content (thanks to fb...) people are most likely not clicking the thank button, they feel like it's not the same as 'liking' the content that someone shared - they are grateful for the content and so they like it - and they don't click that button. When people would click the thanks button more often, people who post content might feel it better that people are grateful and they probably share even more - such a "aahhhh.. feeling generous today" feeling - then. It's a win-win situation, both sides will get a good feeling!

I think there is a daily allotment of 'thanks' and then you have to wait before leaving more. Usually after about 10 -12 'thanks' in a day, the 'thanks' button disappears for the rest of the day. I'm not sure what the actual limit is as I didn't keep track.

No one gets banned for "thanking" people too often. If this were true, I would have been banned a long time ago.

The actual number of Thanks you can give is 25 in a 24-hour period. This is not measured by day, but to the hour.

I observed this a long time myself and also guilty of this, you will see great lengthy post that probably took the contributor a minimum of 30mins to put together but reader prefer to say thanks in the post just to probably display their sig instead of using the "thank button".

Why does this happen? It is often accepted that ‘thank you’ is not deserved for fulfilling your job description. Or, it is a common convention that each of us has the same work ethic regardless of culture, educational degrees, or generational profile?

David, you hit the nail right on the ol proverbial head. We should thank our warriors more often than we do; great piece of advice. And with that, I would like to say to you...

Thank you David for this Awesome post

Seems like everyone in this thread is thanking each other.

It feels like a group hug.

Not at all. I think you missed mine though. I'll chalk it up to a language barrier and not blame you.
    Hi Joe,

So what exactly is your point?

Please explain in really plain and simple terms because of my poor English.

I don't think I can lower my diction any further than I did in the post you quoted. Did you read the whole thing, or just the first sentence?

I did read the whole thing.

So what exactly is your point?

What is the biggest problem with my post?

Do you think my English is so poor that I don't understand what you say?

What is the worst thing that I've done?

Why do you make a big fuss over something so trivial?

What is so wrong about writing a post on showing gratitude?

Have I offended you in any ways?

Are you saying that I have a secret agenda for writing this post?

I just don't understand why are you so cynical.

*Sigh* I equivocate this post to "breaking down a fourth wall". We know about the thanks feature. Those who don't figure it out quickly. Everyone here is at least a teenager after all, and after looking under one avatar and seeing "thanks" should be able to figure out what it means.

The only slightly valid question/point that can be made about "thanks" is when one is trying to figure out how the feature is activated. It comes on after 5 posts. That should be the end of the conversation.

Anyways, back to the 4th wall comment. When you have to tell people to thank a post, the stat begins to lose even more meaning than it already has. Let them occur naturally and because the post was good enough to warrant it. By trying to shape social behaviors, you're devaluing the legitimacy of them.

See above. On top of that, I'm finding your inability to take a dissenting opinion disturbing.

No, and you're going to have to do better than that to bait me .

Now how would I know that? That's between you and whatever deity you do/don't believe in. On this forum? You haven't done anything bad. You're another member that's in that "meh" middle group to me.

Why did you create a thread on something so trivial? I like to talk and debate. You put the subject out there, so I gave my sarcastic opinion.

Again, see part 1 of my response.

Not at all. The tone of this post would be much different if you had.

Based on your post history, I wouldn't think so. Although I did take the time to comment (as you've seen) on how nice it is that a post about thanks somehow turned into a "thanks" orgy .

Once again, you know what they say about assumptions right? I again refer you to my post history. You'll find I trend towards the other side, maybe even a little too lighthearted at times.

I have given my honest thoughts on a few topics here in the forum and have gotten some people to "Thank" me for it.

Vice versa, if I asked a question and someone answered it for me, I did "thank" him or her and never thought about removing it.

    Hi David,

I wouldn't take it personally.. Maybe he ran out of thanks, and so took one back to use on someone else, lol.

Also, I have often thanked people only to return later and find that my thanks didn't 'stick'. So it could just be the 'ghost in the machine' too :p

Either way, I think it is best to keep giving your all, without expecting anything in return. Good answers don't just benefit the OP, but everyone who reads them.

Saying thank you in this forum has its limit per day. Never thought that there's a world that limits to say thank you.

    Hi David,

Been going nuts trying to figure out how to say 'thanks' under a post.

Seeing tons of people doing it, but how are they doing it?

Searched help - didn't find out how.

Searched post.... and Yubba dubba doo got discovering your post with the prized answer.

Turns out I'm too green in number of post to have the thank-you turned on.

Thanks for your helpful post David.

Well said loi77. And I as well am guilty of this too. So I just wanted to say thank you to all of the warriors that I have come into contact with. All of your help and advice has really helped me along. And still is!!
