Hey I was just thinking that, is it possible to use contents from books to create a new website. I know this is illegal but I will create a page and put the title of the book and it's author to acknowledge them.

I wouldn't recommend anything like that. You could probably do the books that are in the public domain. But using as much of a book as you're thinking of probably isn't safe with just crediting. You would need their permission.

If you know it's illegal... why are you asking?

No, even if you "acknowledge" them - you are still a thief. Period.

Didn't you notice the following on any book?!

"All rights Reserved. No part of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means without written permission from the publisher or author"

That's not gonna do anything. It's still copyright infringement and you'll get shut down within a week if you try it. Don't do it.

I use books when I research a topic, but you just can't copy their work without giving them proper credit.

I take basic notes about the topic from the book, then write from the notes.

Read the book. Get some ideas but never copy any thing that has to do with word for word. As long as you don't copy them but put your own version on things, it is OK.

Naming the real author doesn't make him earn from his wokr right? So the others are right don't do it.

Only way to be legally allowed to publish is to sit together with the author and agree on some kind of JV getting him in the loop. I for myself would go for other way'S to create websites as you will definitely have to share your earnings on this one.

Sure, it's possible. And it's very possible that you'll get sued.

      Wrong, wrong, wrong...

Newspapers carry the same copyright protection as books. Newspapers can't copyright actual events or the facts of those events, but they can and do copyright their accounts of those events.

In other words, you can use the recap of a baseball game to find out the score, the stat line, who the winning pitcher was, etc. BUT you can not simply quote the whole story verbatim, credit or not.

How comes that every other day you post some outrageously dumb advice?

Two days ago about WordPress... today - this one ^^.

Maybe you shouldn't post on even dates, just on odd number dates :p

If you quote the title of the book, and then write a review of the book, then that's OK. The New York Review of books does it.

You can even read 3-4 books and then write your own original book, discussing some of the ideas in the other books and citing them , it's called non-fiction writing.

If both parties like author and you agreed on the same pros then you will not have a problem on it. But if you copy any content of the book without knowing of the author, you might get into trouble by the real author. Might as well as take this as a reference or an idea but don't copy anything from here.
