Pricing a Product

Hi,
I have a website which sells an instructional ebook. I have created an additional ebook that supplements the material from the first ebook.

Which pricing model is better:

Option 1) Package the two ebooks together for a cost of $29.

or

Option 2) Give buyers the option of buying both books together for $29, or buying either book separately for $19.

or

Option 3) if you have a better suggestion let me know!

It seems intuitive to me that maybe Option 2 is the best, but maybe you guys can help confirm my suspicions?

  • As an additional question: How much of a discount is appropriate for the packaging of two books together?

i.e. if I offer each book at $19 separately, how much should I offer them as a package for?
  • I would bundle both together - and add a series of audio or video instructions - then offer the written material for $37 with an order page upsell to $67-$97 for the combined written and instructional package.

For the videos, you can simply develop a series of powerpoints and narrate your way through your program recording using the Camtasia screen capture utility.

  • Doh..I kinda misread your post.

I would definitely go with option 2.

Another option would be to sell them both for the $29 but market the second supplemental book as a bonus...

    Good luck!

  • I think psychologically it might be better to sell one book for $39 and then offer the second as a limited time offer bonus...creating urgency, but you still get your money as if they were purchasing both for $19.

I don't think I would sell them separately...unless you had a method of knowing who bought which one so you could cross-sell the other later...
