facebook advertising question

I have a question regarding facebook for advertising in my niche. I am selling physical products with an average order range of $30 to $200 per order and the products are in the motorsports/automotive niche.

So, we have:

1. Physical product, shipped to customers door.
2. An ad clicking user has to go through my website, and then exit to the vendors site to make a purchase. I cannot sell them the product on my own page, they must continue on to the vendors page. I can also not direct link them to the vendors page from Facebook. They must come through my site.

My business is nice in that one new customer could become a customer for life that buys thousands of dollars of product over a ten year span, but I am looking for this to be immediately profitable, meaning if I spent $50 on advertising, I profited $100 on sales.

Is this:

1. Certainly something that with the right demographic targeting could work on Facebook.
2. Given the information, not something that is likely to be profitable on Facebook.

I have yet to find any real success on Facebook for this niche so I am trying to figure out if there are certain things/conditions that just aren't good on Facebook or if it truly is just a matter of super tight targeting.

Everything is profitable with Facebook. You just need to know your customers.

With the right targeting (demographics, age, interests) the chance of your ads getting profitable is very high.

Just make sure your landing page and the seller's page converts both well.

only problem that i've found over the long run w/ facebook ads are tons of impressions w/ little amounts of revenue producing clicks. You have to throw a ton of $$ against the wall at FB ads IMHO
