Would you let this guy write a guest post for your blog?

Folks, when you request a chance to guest post on someone's blog, your e-mail making the request should actually show that you know how to write in the English language. Otherwise, you will never get a worthwhile blog to accept a guest post from you. This just arrived in my e-mail. Needless to say, he's not getting the chance to publish a guest post on my blog:

This is xxxxxxx, I went through your blog
(Personal Finance Help) while surfing in Google, am very Much impressed with your site's unique information's.

I work as a content writer in many Finance communities and love the Opportunity to guest post for your readers. I would like to give you a Unique article on any Finance topics.

      I receive requests like that all the time for my various blogs. I probably respond to one in 25.

      I too contact niche relevant blogs and ask to guest blog, and probably I receive replies in the same ratio.

      Not replying doesn't constitute offensive behavior. I just move on.

      Because I have better things to do than edit someone else's junk. If I want quality articles, I can write them myself. If someone wants to guest post on my site, I expect them to provide material which lives up to the same standards as the stuff I write. Otherwise, I won't accept it.

        Its up to you. it clearly shows that you are not willing to give him a chance. but what @retsced suggested you to do was his opinion. What he insisted there was about "Information". He might not write as good as you do, but his post's information can be valuable and you must review a post well before publishing it.

      From experience I can almost guarantee - it won't need a little editing; and it won't have any quality information. If you expect quality (and to build links), you should give quality - from beginning to end - which means you have to learn to write a decent query and build a relationship with a blogger. You can't just pitch junk.

    I agree with the others who have suggested you at least give him a chance. You never know who is on the other end of these type of emails. Such partnerships might prove beneficial to you in the long run!

    It is probably better than some of the stuff found on a guest blog site that is supposed to be original non spun content ? you have to ask that question when you see this as the opening line of the article / thats not spun is it ? really.

    Seriously though, can someone tell me why so many people who can't write try to earn their living in the freelance writing business?

    Like... they know that written content has to be read by a human being eventually, right?

    I haven't seen anyone try to peddle mechanic services the minute they learned to drive, which is pretty much what these ESL types are doing, only with keyboards instead of cars.

      They took the advice that "if you have the ability to write, it is worth looking into" and extrapolated it into "hey, you're typing. You can be a writer!"

          I guess it's our own fault for not saying "If you know how to write" first.

          or in the case of WSO's "If you have actually already made money online."

          Not that many would listen though. They're different. They're the "chosen one" or "the prodigy". At least they burn out of the game pretty fast.

    What if... like some of my writing clients ... this person was planning to
    have the guest content outsourced, even pay $25, $50, or $200 for it?

    Wouldn't it be MUCH smarter to ask for a sample article, without any
    obligation to publish unless it met and matched your quality/subject
    standards?

    Yes, it would.

    And no, not everyone has time to respond to all such queries.

    But you *might* be turning down a potentially valuable contributor if you
    only went by "language" and not by "content", "expertise" or "passion".

    In some cases, that could end up becoming a costly mistake.

    Something to think about, perhaps?

    It sure is a form letter, or more likely bots. I get those for my sites that are not even blogs and do not have "articles", so that tells you right there that they did not visit my site.

    They are using software to find sites to get back links.

      For me, the red flag isn't the use of language. That can be cleaned up if the information really is valuable. If it's too bad, or it's just someone looking for a cheap backlink, you can always delete it and tell them it doesn't fit.

      The red flag is the offer to write an article on "any financial topic" whatsoever. The odds of getting a spun/scraped/stolen article go way up.

      If I'm approached, I want a specific proposal, not some vague offer of "free content" with just an inline link. That sounds more like SEO jargon than financial expertise. I also want the url to the site being linked to in the article so I can vet it first.

      If I had a hint that the person had something real to offer, I'd probably reply asking for those specifics and see what happens. Otherwise, delete and move on.

    There are niches that perfection in writing isn't so much an issue as the information given. If someone from S. America, Africa, Middle East, etc were to want to write posts for my blog giving information on the field - or rock/fossil hunting or artifacts in their own country, I'd be more than glad to post them with the understanding they would be edited a tad for readability.

    If someone wanted to put up articles in the fields of IM or something of the like - not only would the quality of the writing and structure be excellent - the information would have to be extreme in uniqueness.

    Guest blogging is a two way street - you have to give and get what is beneficial for both parties involved. If you can't, there's not much use in pursuing the alliance in the first place.

    I don't mind form or template emails. But as a writer, if you can't be bothered to edit a template email before sending it shows to me that you might be a lazy writer. Yeah, he may have good ideas and all writers have errors every now and then. But if he can't be bothered to do something as simple, how can you expect his blog posts to be any better. I would pass on this.

    I don't post other people’s articles at my blog; only my own articles. My blog is about special knowledge.

    I believe that unless your blog is about something quite known you cannot find the quality you need from guest posts.

    i think he is not going to write the article himself. when i was working on odesk and was doing guest posting. i wrote the message and sent it to many web owners. when they accept it my client gives me the article and i sent it to the owner of the website to post. and believe me they were very high quality article. Just let him send you the article if its good then you can post it.
