Site Flipping Questions...

I'm writing an updated quick start guide to site flipping.

If you have any questions regarding site flipping please feel
free to ask them this thread or personally send me a pm.

I'm directing this towards anyone that has little to no experience with site flipping.

I have a couple of online stores but have decided to explore other areas of IM.

So, being a newbie, I guess I don't understand why people flip sites.

I can understand doing a couple flips to build up some cash to spend on a site you intend to keep but not to crank out dozens and dozens of them.

I was looking at a site flipping WSO just a few minutes ago and see that an outsourced site with ebook is around $300 and sells on Sitepoint for lets say $800.

A $500 profit is nice but if that same site sold 2 ebooks a week you would have made your money back in six weeks and over $2600 in a year.

    What am I missing?

What you are missing is the tons of promotion that you'll need to get this site going. Many site flippers, myself included can create 10 websites in a day without breaking a sweat and selling them for $50-$100 each. That translates to a potential $1000 day. Now not all sell and not all go for the best price, but when you outsource the process, it builds up to a nice income. A successful site flipper will also build and promote sites. The most profitable stay in their portfolio to keep the recurring income growing. I hope this answers your questions.

        Hi Tom,

        Thanks for the reply.

This isn't directed at you but rather an example of what I am already familiar with.

I often look on ebay at the ecommerce stores for sale there. I think it safe to say that 95% of them are pure crap and will never make the poor person that buys them a dime. Often when I check on a domain three or four months later the site isn't even online anymore.

The buyer shares some blame for its failure if they don't do any of the marketing to get customers to their store but I feel in most cases they have been taken advantage of.

I just purchased Kate Anderson's Flip Mastery WSO so maybe I will learn something that will turn my thinking around

          Baystreet,

My sites are highly targeted niche sites. The articles are written around low competition keyword phrases. If you just buy my sites and leave them alone, they will start to get traffic after a few months. I don't sell ecommerce sites that go nowhere.

I feel the exact opposite. Being a "site flipper" myself, it scares me sometimes because I wonder why anyone would BUY a site, rather than just build sites and sell them.

I actually enjoy building the sites, but when it comes to generating traffic, well, to be blunt, I suck at it. I swear I couldn't write an effective headline if there was a gun to my head.

What is that old saying? "I guess that's what makes horse races."

To keep building my business, I count on more people have YOUR point of view Baystreet, than mine.

You know, Sean, this thread probably won't last long considering it could EASILY be interpreted as a build up to your anticipated WSO.

I'm just trying to get a general understanding of the questions people may have so I can better my product.

I'm not asking anyone to buy it... just yet.

I was actually planning on giving away review copies to select few who had posted questions in this thread.
