Advice on launching a new product.

I am a complete newbie in Internet marketing but I am a successful business man. I have been in sales for 15 years and have recently written a book on selling using hypnotic language. It can be purchased at all major book retailers.

I was told by others to forget trying to sell your book at retailers and market it as a sales course online. So I purchased a domain name (not cheap because someone owned it) and hired a person to turn my book into a ClickBank product. Since then I had an audio version of the book made and a full PowerPoint presentation with quizzes developed as video traing course. I have not recorded the audio for it yet.

None of this was cheap, but now I have all of this great content and have no idea what to do with it. My goal is to make a name for myself and do live and recorded seminars on selling (5 year goal). I would like to start making back some of my invested money online with my product now.

What advice can you give me that would put me on the right path? Spending a few more bucks on this project is not an issue either.

Here is some added info.

Really all you need to do is find a bunch of affiliates and offer them a decent amount of commission

You're product sounds pretty good so the rest should truly take care of itself

Also hire a professional copywriter to produce a nice sales page if you don't already have one

The niche as well as the product you have chosen to go ahead with sounds appealing.

Now your basic aim should be to qualify it to your audience. As sovereign suggested, try and look for affiliates in your niche - and then offer them phenomenal commissions. Your earnings may be low initially but believe me your true earnings are the list of buyers you will end up with - who are automatic prospects for your future products.

How do I offer this product up to affiliates? Is the squeeze page and sales page good enough?

    Thanks for all the help

First: squeeze page - what's the conversion rate?

Second: sales page - what's the conversion rate?

Armed with that information you will:

      a) know if it's good enough
      b) have some solid facts to present to your affiliates

    Hi Jean,

Answer to your conversion questions are: I have no idea.

Since I had this created I haven't done anything with it because I honestly feel overwhelmed with what to do next. Product creation was already done when I wrote the book and the site and clickbank I paid outsources to put it together for me.

Now that it is done there is no traffic coming to the site to get conversion rates. I am not sure I would know what is a good conversion. I just added google analytics to the site 4 days ago and have an Indian outsourcer building manual backlinks and running senuke x for the site. I started this a week ago as well.

Is there a better way to do this?

Aaron, it's not so much about a good conversion rate but more about it being consistent.

You will find it hard to get good affiliates without those figures. On the other hand, even if you consistently convert 1% over a period of time, you can improve it.

You have to start selling your product and tracking what you do before you even THINK about affiliates.

    hey arron

of course dont forget that you should be building a list because it goes hand in hand when selling your own products

as long as you have a half decent sales page and you have an affiliate program the best thing to do is contact lots of site owners in your niche that who are building lists and give them your product for free to review

also tell them if they want to promote it to there subscribers give them 100% commission

make sure you have a back end offer set up as well though so you can still make some money for yourself

this is a great way to build a list of buyers for free

but of course only do this if your product is ready to go and everything is ready

    This is simple -

    Clickbank is driven by affiliates.

The best way to get a crap-load of
affiliates is by selling a kick-ass product
    that converts.

Start by running a WSO using Clickbank
    as your payment processor.

Everyone in the WSO is a potential
affiliate - and hopefully you'll achieve
a nice enough boost from the launch
there that you'll hit the Clickbank radar.

-Or- find a player in the WSO market
and have them JV with you for name
recognition. They get a cut, and I'd
suggest it be healthy, for introducing
    you to the market.

If possible, just sell the book - a $12
book on Amazon can fetch $27 as an
ebook (nobody needs to argue this as
I've sold a book like that where people
came FROM Amazon to buy it - instant
    gratification).

Pay out the highest commission you
    can -

    Go from there . . .

I set my commission on ClickBank at 75%, is that the most effective number?

you might want to do a small test first with a list or PPC to see if you are converting well.

If it is, then launch if not, then you might want to fix up things, get conversion rates up and then launch.

Launches are not as hard as everyone makes them out to be, but they are very very lucrative.

If you want to attract big affiliates, you need big compensation. Showing your offer converts, and offer a good commission is just the start. If you REALLY want to get big affiliates, take it to the next level with a competitive prize package, things like:

    small cash prize for:
    -first to make a sale
    -first to make 10 sales
    -first to make 25 sales
    -first to make 50 sales

and then at the end of a certain time period a larger cash prize for different places for top salesmen. Also you can have other prizes instead of just cash.

If you just go the route of offering prizes at certain sales levels, then you know you won't be risking of giving away more prizes than money you're making.

Thanks Steve. I never considered that. I guess I need to get a course on marketing to affiliates. Any recommendations?
