Is it easier to get work on iWriter or Warrior for Hire?

I have bills to pay. I am considering writing for iWriter, since I have not been able to get any clients here on the Warrior For Hire.

Eventually I can make $4.05 per 500 words.
20 articles + 30 minutes each, it's about $80

with 10 hours of work.

Of course at first you only get paid $2.43 per 500 words. Until you get 25 reviews.

I tried to offer my services here for a measly $3 per 500 words, and didn't get one client. I would rather charge $5 per 500 words since it's what I think I am worth.

Why is it so hard to get clients here? I feel like iWriter is my only option.

Sites like oDesk and Freelancer require too much time to bid and most will turn you down. I found a customer on Freelancer that pays $2.25 per 500 words, and gave me 31 articles to write. He says that he will keep me busy long-term. For now, I have taken the offer, since I need the money.

Any tips?

  • iwriter is growing in popularity as for me buying articles, I get then in a few hours rather than waiting days or even weeks for content. There you can choose to write on topics you actually know about.

I would advise you to go the iwriter and get solid reviews and then you can start earning some decent money.

    Good luck.

Go to other forums and offer your service non IM related. This is how I got my content writer that I have spent thousand of $$$ on.

    • This is actually a very good idea. Never really thought of it. Thank you.

Is it easier to go pick up work on iwriter? Definitely. The articles are already just sitting there, waiting to be written. Is it better? Not if you truly believe your time is worth $.05 per word. iwriter doesn't go above $.02 per word, even with their "elite" projects.

Another thing to keep in mind: you are banking on there being 20 articles on topics that you can sufficiently write in 30 minutes to be coming in every day. Spend the next few days watching iwriter and the projects that come in. It's not very likely.

    • Joe's got a good point here. I've written a LOT of articles- some I could put together very quickly, because I already knew a lot about the topic.

Others would take me 2-3 times as long because either
      1) I had to do a bit of research, or
      2) There's just not much to say

Seriously- how much can you really write about those lawn light thingies, coffee pots or sinks?

  • If you are looking for stop-gap work to get some quick money writing, then TextBroker and Interact Media might be worth a look.

I have written for both (but it was a long while ago). They pay out and if you are decent at all they will bump your rating (and pay grade) fairly quickly.... I think after 5 articles?

    Wrong question - sorry.

It's not about "why it's hard to get clients here": it's about "why it's hard to get clients for $4/$5 articles". It isn't just you and it isn't just this forum. Writers of $4/$5 articles are permanently advertising for and seeking new clients. And the reasons for that are explained in these posts ...

I'm sorry. I know it isn't immediately very helpful to you. But I think, overall, in the long run, it's probably going to be more helpful than trying to pretend that that isn't the situation? Do something else to pay the bills, rather than writing articles for $3. That makes very little sense at all.

  • Writing for $3/$4/$5 per 500 words is like being a crab in a bucket. You'll never get to the top with so many in there with you (okay, maybe not the best analogy). Not only that, but you are showing your desperation and setting yourself up to be slaved in the long run. Once clients/customers see you working for the pennies you agreed to work for, they will expect those prices all the time. Soon, you'll be recommended at those prices and get burnt out sooner than later. Writing 20 articles per day, I can imagine, would be miserable.

In regards to a Warrior For Hire thread, be creative. Think outside the box. Stand out.

Do you have a portfolio or website? Reviews for services elsewhere?

    • If you have some good reviews you can put up a $20 ad on Warrior for Hire and get plenty of work. if you do not have any reviews yet then go for iWriter or somewhere else first to get some.

  • I have been following the requests at iwriter for a few days now and have discovered a sort of Catch-22.

I signed up when the site first launched, wrote a few articles and got busy with other projects so I never reached the 30 articles required to upgrade to a higher paid status.

The other day I got an email from them that they are offering a few more services to clients, one of which I enjoy doing. So I went back to the site to only to find requests for these new services in the higher writer bracket.

No problem, I figured I would get around to writing the rest of the articles I needed for an upgrade. Only that seems now to be impossible.

First, in the lower writing bracket there are a lot less requests. I would say like 20-25% of what used to be there. And all are from requesters with very high rejection rates and lots of poor ratings.

Digging a little deeper, most of the "bargain" requesters leave lower ratings even when they do accept an article.

So it looks like there is no way to write 30 articles and get reviews good enough to be promoted to a higher level. It only takes a couple poor reviews to pull you down. Seems like a waste of time for anyone new to pursue work at iwriter.
  • If you want to lash out and spend $7, you can grab my WSO which has a list of over 100 sites that offer job opportunities, not all for writers though, but more than enough to keep you busy. You can set your your profile on a few and grab jobs and you should be able to do well.
  • I really like iWriter, but unfortunately, they pay out using PayPal only which is not supported in my country.
