Well, you can start by joining Forums to do with your niche. Make a few YouTube videos linking back to your webpage. Make a Twitter account, Facebook Fan page. Comment on blogs, hyperlink back to your webpage.

Those combined, will get you to your goal.

If you use these methods, you can consistently get 10+ visits per day, which is a start.

      good luck with your endeavours!

    Welcome.

First of all, 10-20 visits per week is not going to get you anywhere. You need more like 10-20 visits per hour to make the BIG money online.

    You can use:

    PPC
    article marketing
    video marketing
    classified ads.

I do not recommend social media so much like Twitter. I think it is a waste of time.

Serious traffic needs serious efforts, make your goals high and you will get good results.
Join face book, make a facebook page, ask your friends to join it and spread your page across the facebook.
    Get some youtube videos.
Write quality articles and more important target thousands of visitors a day , not 10-20 visitors a week.

If you want to get serious traffic, as others have suggested, a quick way to do it is with paid traffic. CPV paid traffic is the least expensive.

    hey rajathss

well there are many ways you can generate traffic to your site. 10-20 per week though will not be enough to make a sale let alone to give some idea of data on how many click through rates your getting etc.

below are some free generating traffic strategies, but you need to aim alot more higher of volume of traffic, i say anywhere between 500-1000 to get some kind of result. This will take time but the results are so much better.

    traffic generation strategies:

    1. forum, (in your niche)
    2. press release
    3. social media (do not spam)
    4. web 2.0
    5. video

then you have the paid stratgies:

    1.cpa
    2.facebook ads

    etc etc ....

just further research these strategies and apply them within your niche and you should start seeing results.

Just go with the following for some quick targeted traffic :

Forum Posting (As on this forum) : Add your website links in your signature.
Guest Blogging : Requires a bit of work but much rewarding.
Blog Commenting : Quick and Easy Traffic (Remember to post useful comments only)

That's all for quick traffic. If you are new to traffic generation, I'd suggest you to stay away from paid traffic.

Use these quick strategies for noe, learn SEO and other traffic tips side by side.

I'd exercise caution if going down the PPC route- it can be very expensive unless you absolutely know what you're doing.

Remember when blog commenting or guest posting to choose good quality sites- links to poor or spammy sites won't do you much good.

The key is to get yourself out there. Join forums, get active on social media and do whatever you can to make yourself look like an authority. More importantly, you need to actually be an authority to make sure you know your stuff. Reputation is everything online.

Backlinks are also still very important. Other people might suggest that you use a paid service, but the big G is getting wise to this kind of stuff so IMO you'd be better off doing it organically. It might take a bit longer but you will be less likely to lose your ranking later on. Who wants to be left with months of hard work down the drain for a quick fix?

like thaey said getting visitors to great content is one of the easiest things you’ll ever do

And You can use this easy ways

    1.Take Advantage of Your Network
If you’ve been actively getting out and meeting your neighbors, you’ve built up a pretty good network of blogging and website-owning friends. Drop them an email to let them know about your new blog and ask them if they’ll let their readers know about it, too. (And don’t forget to give it a little link love on any sites that you control, too!)

    2.Guest Blog

If you’re an active blog reader (and if you’re a blog writer, you ought to also be a blog reader), you’ve probably seen guest bloggers on several of the blogs that you read. Well, scoring just one post on a popular blog can give your own blog a great jumpstart. It’s one of the best ways to get visitors to your blog. Check out Darren’s post on Why Guest Bloggers are Great for a Blog for more info and links to his full series on guest blogging, and check out Blogger LinkUp for opportunities.

    3.Comment on Other Blogs

Commenting on other blogs is a great way to get noticed, both by the blogger and by people reading the comments. You’ll get a special benefit from those who maintain a Top Commentators list, too. Make sure your comments add value to the discussion, though. Nobody likes to wade through a lot of “That’s right!” or “I agree” comments. (The strategy could backfire in a huge way if you try to get visitors to your blog by spamming other blogs.)
Also, the sooner you comment on a post that later becomes very popular, the more visibility (and clickthroughs) you’ll end up getting. You’ll probably develop an eye pretty quickly for which posts are going to end up being really popular.

    4.Give out the Link Love

In every post you write, be sure to give out as much link love as possible. Most avid bloggers watch their sites like a hawk and will notice right away if someone has linked to them, quite often leading to a beautiful friendship. Create posts specifically to review, expound, critique or disagree with things other bloggers have written (always respectfully so), and be aware of other opportunities to link out in every post you write. Don’t get so hung up on getting visitors to your blog that you try to get them from going anywhere else once they find you.

    5.Promote Your Blog’s URL

Keep an eye out for different ways to make people aware of your blog’s URL. The most obvious way is to be active in forums and include your blog in your signature, but you can also include it on letterhead, in your email signature, and lots of other places. Be creative.

    6.Blog Carnivals

Blog carnivals are great for driving traffic to your blog. Participants in each Change of Shift, for example, all see a significant burst of traffic to their blogs in the days after each edition. Check out Blog Carnival for a huge list of carnivals on all sorts of topics.
And to really give your traffic a boost, actually host a blog carnival. A word of warning, though: for some carnivals, hosting can be a ton of work. Make sure you don’t take on more than you can handle. Talk to some of the previous hosts to get an idea of how much time it took them, and make sure you participate several times to get a feel for the carnival itself.

    7.Blog Live

If you have an opportunity to go to an interesting conference or other gathering that others can’t get to, blog live from there and include plenty of pictures. If you’re one of the few doing, it or if you do a particularly good job, you’ll find lots of bloggers recommending that their readers check out your coverage.

    8.Don’t Ignore Search Engine Optimization

Making sure your blog is optimized for search engines is a very smart thing to do. It may not make much difference in the short-term, but it will pay huge dividends the larger and older your blog gets. Look for a dedicated post about this soon.
In the meantime, though, you want to be intentional about your SEO without overdoing it. Gimmicks like John Chow’s would totally turn readers off on most blogs (but it fits his perfectly).

    9.Interview a Popular Blogger

As I wrote in Can I Interview You for My Blog?, approaching someone for an interview is a great way to get your site noticed. Interview a popular blogger in your niche or, maybe better yet, interview a not-yet-popular blogger who should be. You can always say you gave them their big break

    10.Create a Theme

The majority of bloggers don’t design the themes for their blog. Thus, the demand for themes is very high. If you can create a good theme that other bloggers start to use, you’ll start to see the links to your site really start to pile up. (And, granted, this one may not qualify as “easy” for most of us.)

    11.Join a Blog Network

A blog network is simply a collection of blogs that help drive traffic to one another. Large, established networks might not let new blogs in, but many do hold open application periods every so often. You can also approach networks that look like a good fit for your blog or even start your own — getting visitors to your blog and helping others to do the same!

    Most Importantly…

All of these tips assume that you’ve already got great content — which is easily the number one way to get visitors to your blog. If you don’t have great content, you’re just wasting your time. The visitors will leave just as quickly as the came, and you’ve quite likely lost a chance to get them back. If you do have great content, though, you may not have to do anything else. People will talk and link and promote you themselves without you having to lift a finger. It’s not quite “If you build it, they will come,” but it’s close.
So focus first on posting stuff worth reading before you start trying to get people to read it. You won’t be disappointed!

    and the last...

    TAKE ACTION Bro!

I totally agree that they are very good strategies, but as someone who has done both #6 and #11 I've that they both involve a lot of work and a strong network to make it successful.

I also hosted a blog carnival one time and you are so right about how much time and work they can take.

For me Twitter, G+, Facebook, Instagram (if you have images you can share), Pinterest and Empire Avenue were all very helpful in driving traffing and getting lots of traffic referrals.

Also, Yahoo Answers and Quora if you're careful with where you post your links and how often you post them.

      Good luck to you.

If you are just starting out you may want to just start using article marketing and other types of free advertising. When it comes to article marketing start creating 1 or 2 articles a day and submit them to as many article directories you can find. Be sure to include keyword targeted links back to your site in the article or in the resourse box.

Once you start getting the hang of marketing online, you may want to start using pay per click ads... but you need to make sure you do your research before you get started so you don't end up wasting your money.

Exel thanks for the references. It makes things much easier. I must say however that getting 10-20 visitors a week is not a hard thing to do. You can get 10-20 visitors in a few minutes due to traffic exchanges. You really want highly targeted visitors, and there are plent of ways to do that such as forum marketing, ppc campaigns, social media marketing. Some take longer then the other, but they all prove to be beneficial.

Backlinking correctly. As it's your own website, do NOT make many backlinks pointing directly to your site, because doing so can lose you traffic or even get you de-indexed.

However, you can build a few web2.0 pages on free sites, and make lots of backlinks to THOSE, which will then help your own site.

Make as many different types of backlinks as possible to your own site, and think carefully how to make it look as natural as possible, for example, the more popular social bookmarking sites would have correspondingly more links made on them, so don't make an equal number of backlinks on the unknown sites, because that wouldn't naturally happen.

Also think a bit about on-page-SEO, keep posting new relevant content that your visitors really want. Make a few links to relevant quality sites (Wikipedia is always good) because the search engines look at your social context and assume that your site is about the same quality as those you link to (and from). So no links to low quality sites!

Plenty more about backlinking here, but that's the basics. Most backlinks will give you both direct traffic, and pull you higher up the search engine results, IF you do it right. Just as an example, on one site of mine, on a competitive subject, I put up 1000 backlinks (lots of different ones) and that got me around 100 visitors a day.

    Chris
PS. (the second link in my sig includes a 55-page backlink guide, giving away all the secrets!).

This is also the problem that I'm interested. There are several ways such as:
Comment on the site, a blog related content:
This is a great way to Increase traffic, but more Often use a professional blogger. Just look for the blog, same subject site and make comments on the blog.

    Exchanging links with other sites:
My personal opinion theo, you nên withwebsites exchange links with the same topic or industry under the same field as this will make a lot more Easily traffic to your website.

Share files - video - ebook:
If you can make video, ebook, you can upload the large file-sharing sites like Youtube, Slideshare.net, Mediafire .... You can set thewatermark to your website address in the video, image or link in thedescription set.

    Join social networks:
Put Your Website link in the Facebook profile, Twitter will help peopleknow more of Your website. The strength of social networks is a verylarge number of users and the ability to connect the members is very high. So you can recommend Your Website Easily to many people.
    .........................
Hope you make more traffic to your websites!

    Hi OP,

Congratulations on getting your site up. There's some statistic that the vast majority of people trying IM never learn how to build a basic site and consequently get it up live online! Good for you!

Well, there are a lot of ways to get traffic to your site as many people have mentioned. Part of it though depends on why you want the traffic. Obviously you could just go over to Adfly today and buy 10K visitors who would show up at your site. That would be cheap and effective for getting traffic, but completely uneffective for getting targeted traffic. So the question becomes what kind of traffic are you after and why? Are you selling something (amazon, affiliate products) or setting up CPM or CPC ads so you get paid when people view or click? Or maybe your site is about getting people to sign up for a free offer so you can get them on a list.

Depending on the point of your site in terms of marketing, the traffic you get and want varies immensely. That said, regardless of this, I usually advocate and work on my sites in the following manner in order to get a solid foundation of traffic:

First, hopefully your site is based on and built initially around solid keyword research. You've chosen to go into a niche or area of the web that has traffic available organically, but isn't tremendously competitive. Building on this, I would research at least the top 150 longtail keywords ranging in search volume from say 150 - 850 exact searches per month related to your site. I would then systematically create/write articles and/or posts optimized and targeted at those keywords. One each for the main title and theme of the article, with a couple more thrown in there and there.

Even if you only get 30 articles up, you'll get a bunch of natural traffic and even without backlinking and SEO. Get 150 up, and your 20 uniques per week target will be blown to smithereens.

The two additional things to do with content (besides repurposing it, which is a whole different post), is to make sure you have social share buttons added to each page/post so some of that organic traffic and advertise socially for you after they read. And second, to syndicate your posts automatically with software to web 2.0 and social bookmarking sites so you get automatic penguin friendly backlinks and subsequent traffic.

Now if your site is all about a service or conversions and you have the budget, sure, go for PPC or PPV or whatever, but I am still a solid believer in the power of organic search W/O manipulating the results via SEO.

I didn't see it mentioned (maybe I missed it though) but what kind of site is it? Is it a product review site? an informational site?

In the case of a product review site, you can get 10-20 visits per day almost immediately just by targeting certain products.

Have you tried asking your friends to click your link and share it to other people for you? There are a lot of ways you can do that. There's that instant messaging client that you have there. That's one of the simplest ways of getting traffic before you actually spend your time on PPC and SEO.

You can do SEO of course. It takes time, but once you get the rankings, you reap the profits as long as you maintain them.

Try posting in your niche's forums. It builds relationship. Facebook fanpages, youtube videos, article marketing are some of the other free methods to get traffic.

You can use paid methods like solo ads and PPC too.

    1) Do what you're doing: post in forums and place a link with some info in your signature. This is free and easy advertisement.
    2) Improve your SEO
    3) Tell people about your site: word of mouth is the best (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, ext).

If you are just starting out, I would avoid PPC - you can lose your shirt with PPC unless you really know what you're doing.

Anyway, there are lots of free traffic methods that work well. Blog commenting, forum posting, article and video marketing, Yahoo Answers. All can generate a lot of targeted traffic with relatively little work, and have a cumulative effect - a few minutes work every day will keep generating traffic for months or in some cases even years.

10-20 visits per week will not do much is true, but it's better to have a small goal and achieve it than having a huge and be disappointed. Since you have time to work, I would suggest you to start forum posting on forums with the same niche as your site. Add your site as your homepage and if it is allowed add it on your signature too. This way you will build some back links too.

    Be hyperactive:
    1.comment on other blogs
    2.be active on forums
    3.use twitter,facebook,google + etc

and of course don't forget about seo. but if you want 20 visitors/week (which is really low in my opinion and you won't get too far with only 3 visitors/day) you can achieve this only from your forum signatures and some comments made on other blogs from your niche.
