You're better off with one way links, I'd forget reciprocal directories if you can although some allow you to put the reciprocal link on another page tucked away in your site whilst you get a link to your home page - this could be worth looking at but not sure how you'd do it in wordpress.

Yes, in short they work, they certainly do no harm at least.

If recips are thrown into a mix of one-way, 3-way, recip, site-wide, fixed, rotating, no-follow, do-follow etc. then I find they are beneficial. Partly for their link juice but primarily because that's how most 'real' sites linking structures look, a melting pot of all different sorts links.

So don't focus all your energy on aquring recips, in fact focus very little, but if you can automate/outsource most of the process so it's little or no effort then I say go for it.

yes. there are services that range from next to nothing, to over $100/month. Don't bother with the premium services until you really know what your'e doing or you could harm sites and be out lots of cash. There are lots of ways to get one way backlinks so do some research and you'll be climbing he SERPs in no time.

I generally don't bother with reciprocal links except it it's really worth it.

With the web 2.0, you have enough one way links... and I won't say that it's better than articles, I will say, use them all.

One way links are much better, but if you really want to acquire recips links then try to searched those that are relevant and with good credibility.
