How do I stop this lady from spamming me?

I few months ago I ended up on someone's list and it was all good at first until she started sending me 3 or 4 messages a day. Seeing that she did not have a choice for people to opt out, I politely wrote back to her and asked her to take me off her list. I only got a nasty response and with her ramping up her efforts. I've tried everything I could but she still at it.

This has turn out into like the fatal attraction of optin lists.

The worse part is that in her emails she makes outrageous income claims that clearly are not true.

I am at my wits end on what to do. If anyone has any advise please let me know. And no, I won't say on what website I came across her, but it's pretty obvious. :p

This has actually happened to me a few times on an email address that I don't even give out. What I've done is let them know they are violating the CAN-SPAM act by not providing an unsubscribe option with every email (not to mention the fact that I never opted in at all). I then let them know that the next email they send to me will result in me reporting them and having them prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

They tend to back off after that. Seems the people that spam me aren't good at playing chicken .

    Hey Christiani

What type of email account are you using? My Yahoo kinda sucks but my gmail is really good at keeping people that I mark as 'spam' out of my inbox.

I also think some email accounts let you block people all together but I have no idea how to do that.

    Hope this helps

Hey Christiana this sounds like a made-for-TV movie. LOL.

Some email clients will let you set up a custom email folder which will automatically grab incoming emails you have pre-marked as spam and dump them in there. So you will never have to see this insane spammer's email.

I like Joe's Can-Spam act idea but if this lady is truly crazy, she won't care, as it appears to be the case.

Try setting up those folders on your client. It's a great way to get instant peace of mind.

I try to avoid a conflict if an unsubscribe doesn't work. Gmail is very good at setting up filters. You can have anything you want sent directly to trash.

Also, I've had to learn the hard way, don't give out an important email addy when you sign up for something, including here or in the war room. Have a secondary email just for signing up for things. It can all be forwarded to your primary email, but you can abandon it if you need to.

Is your email coming through a domain name you own? Most hosting companies offer email filtering tools which will allow you to blacklist her by email address. If you are using Outlook or Outlook Express you can also set up rules which will do the same thing.

Christiani, I ever experienced the same,,but worse. A marketer once mailed me 12 - 20 emails a day . All I did after "unsubscribe" is block the sender, and activated the mail filter option so whatever emails arrived from her would be automatically sent to spam or deleted. Both yahoo and gmail has this.

Sometimes the Aweber/Getresponse unsubscribe field has "never send me email again" option you can check after unsubscribe.

    The Best Solution.
I had the same sorts of emails coming few months ago.
What I did I asked them to remove me from their list but it didn't work.
Then I wrote email to them that if I receive any mail from them in the future, then I will distribute your email on the web through a software, your email will be picked by every spammer on the web and you will receive more than 50000 emails per day.
Trust the day I sent this to them, I never received any emails from them again.
Just Threat them with such kind of email that you will spread her email address on the web. Hope it will work.

I agree with datingworld in some respect. But first find out if she is using an email address from a personal domain, if she is the report her to her hosts, providing they are not somewhere off shore like china or hong kong they will have to act.

At a last resort get on fiverr and find someone who is selling the biggest Xrumer blast possible and tell them to use her email address as the verifying email address, bingo played becomes the player. Ok, underhand tactics but you did warn her!

Well, depending on how bad it bothers you... you could seek revenge and add her email to porn site and the such. A few websites offer a free script to join 100s of such sites at once.

You could also just bounce the mail back as not accepting email from them. It will NOT be spam (SpamCop says it is but only if she reports it) ... in time they will remove it.

Me, I'd report her to SpamCop, her host, domain registrar and the mailing provider. Then make a filter to delete it. The reason I would report her, to do my part to help marketers delivery and how people look at us.

      Two words...

      Black Hole

Many ISPs offer this option for email. The code is usually something like :blackhole:. Just set up a rule that any email from her is forwarded - at the server - to the black hole. It will be gone before reaching your account.

Back when I was a freelance writer I wrote a few articles for a new client who in turn never paid me. She even wrote me an email a day after I sent her the articles praising my writing, etc. It wasn't a lot of money and I just let it go after I sent her a few emails about it. Not too soon after this she started sending me emails with only a link in them. Of course, I never clicked on those links and marked the emails as spam. After a few of them my email software finally now put her emails directly in my spam box. She still sends them but I don't read them.

Unsubscribe her - mark her email as spam and also report her to the CAN-SPAM agency and literally file a complaint. Let her know you're doing all 3.

Set up your email client to redirect her emails.

First off wise up and use different accounts for different purposes, this is a good strategy as getting on a list is only going to distract you.

Open those accounts monthly or weekly perhaps for people you buy from.

Just change your subs to those new accounts or unsubscribe, now here is what to do for those that do not behave.

Report the email to SpamCop.net - Beware of cheap imitations they are owned by Citrix, they distrubute to all the main Spam cleaners that Gmail and Yahoo rely on AND they send abuse messages which may get the account of the spammer shut down.

If the idiot is dumb enough to use an autoresponder like Aweber or Get Response report it to them.

I know the latter will shut down the account and confiscate the data.

Spam is inevitable so don't use an email you value in the first place, you can have multiple emails in paypal so create one for your BUY email account. I prefer Yahoo to Gmail, their filtering is better and it is easier to use. If you setup filters on these accounts it can take 30 seconds to see if there is anything of value.
