How can we quickly tell if a site is nofollow for posts?

How can we quickly tell if a site or forum is using nofollow for comments or posts. If it is, it worth leaving a comment(if it's a blog) if you are trying to do some link building, or is it a waste of time?

I have been told to use a Firefox plugin or look at the robots.txt file. How does the Firefox plugin work? How to you use it?

There is a plugin called SEO for Firefox. Once you have it installed, all you need to do is activate it. Nofollow links will be highlighted in red.

I read somewhere that even nofollow links help your SE rankings, but I'm not an expert on SEO, so don't take my word for it

Right, so nofollow links are still fine for link building, but a nofollow link from a high PR site will do you about the same as any old random link?

    Thanks for your replies guys.

Curtis, Firefox seo looks pretty useful. beareroftruth so it looks like leaving comments on a nofollow blog or forum is a waste of time as an exercise in link building.

Hey Winson I tested the Firefox plugin with "NODOFOLLOW" on some forums. It was showing a lot of BLUE links within forum posts, i.e Dofollow. This looks to be a cool way to find forums to leave a few posts on!

    Thanks for the tips guys.
