Has anyone here who lives in the UK sent a US dollar cheque to their bank by post?

It says on the Lloyds TSB website that you can pay cheques into your account by posting them, but it doesn't specify if that applies to foreign cheques also, so I was wondering if anyone has experience doing this.

You will be charged a % i think to bank those cheques, and they also exchange them at there rate, which could be much lower then the market rate.

The bank doesn't actually charge a percentage, they charge a £8 flat fee. I was just wondering if they accepted them via post or only in the branch.

    Yes.

This varies between banks, with foreign cheques, and you do need to check up with them first, I think. I use Santander, who have two different ways of clearing US$ cheques in the UK. One (the quick one) requires the customer to be present to sign forms. The other doesn't, but takes about 6 weeks to clear. I suggest you call your bank and ask them, first.
