Any disadvantages with using guest posts?

Hi guys, is there any down side from using guest posts on your site?

I'd like to have a mix of my own, plr and guest blogging.

What's the deal with having backlinks in your guest blogs, the norm seems to be 2, which is cool.

Should they be follow or nofollow... does it matter?

Here is what I think: A guest post by a person with much experience in your niche can work both ways: It can bring your site a great amount of traffic. At the same time, the post can drive away visitors from your site to the guest's site. In any case, having guest posts at regular intervals can add a new dimension to your blog and increase its credibility.
