If YOU Had A Chance To Ask 5 Questions To Top Marketers....

....What would you ask them?

Me personally, would possibly ask these:

1) What made you want to become a marketer?

2) What was your drive and passion, to want to succeed?

3) Is there anything you would do different?

4) Is there any marketer, that you look upto, and why?

And i think the biggest,

5) If you had to start again, where would you start from, and why?

Would you ask anything different to these, add any?

Any takers?

You know there is another question I thought of; have you already asked them those questions? Why/why not?

What do you believe you'll get from getting answers to those questions?

What you ask really depends on what you hope to get out of the conversation. Looks like you're looking for motivation.

I've done a lot of phone interviews with a couple dozen top internet marketers -- John Reese, Yanik Silver, Rosalind Gardner, etc -- and I never once asked questions like why they wanted to be marketer, who they looked up to, etc.

That's because it didn't really matter. At least not for what I was hoping to get out the interviews.

So maybe a marketer became a marketer because he had a good product he wanted to get out to the world. Maybe he wanted to become rich. Maybe he thought it sounded fun. Maybe he's following in his parents' footsteps...etc. To me, it doesn't matter, because it has absolutely no bearing on why **I** want to become a marketer and if I'll be a good one.

So if I sat down (again) with top marketers, personally I would skip those questions. You only have a limited amount of time. So, IMO, focus on the questions that really matter -- like your "what would you do different" and "what would you do if you started again."

    Also, things like:

What area should new marketers focus on (e.g., copywriting, traffic, conversions, etc)?

    What's worth outsourcing?

What is the SECRET to your success?

How does your mindset play into that? How did you develop the right mindset?

What "ah ha" moment opened the flood gates and allowed you to start making money?

How do you stay focused / productive?

How do you stay creative? Where do you get ideas?

Plus ask them direct questions that apply directly to their area of expertise (e.g., if your interviewee is a copywriter, then ask about copywriting techniques).

    My two cents...

p.s. Yeah, I know I listed more than five... but as I said, you ask the questions based on what you want to get out of the interview. So I was just showing a few examples.

I would definitely ask something along the lines of what I can do to get you to coach me at a reasonable and affordable rate?

Instead of asking all these 'how' questions, its best to get straight to the point.
If you want success, get a mentor.

Hopefully that doesn't sound too selfish lol but let's be real...we all want to make good money and enjoy the good life

(Not 5 I know, but I think getting personally coached by a successful IMer outweighs any other # of questions you could ask...)

I don't think I would really have any specific questions to ask them. If I had a chance to pick the brain of someone doing much better than me I'd first want to take a look and get an explanation of what they do.

Then I'd request they look at my stuff and assess my efforts. If an outside eye is going to get access to my business, it might as well be the best.
