A woman is worth her weight in bandwidth ;)

Well, I went through and read Bowerboy's tirade against Sbucciarel this morning. And now I'm kind of ticked off about his sweeping generalisations. There are a lot of women in this forum who are hugely successful, some much more so than their male counterparts (:p)

I love working my business, and yes I have a head on my shoulders, and no I don't live in the 1950's. I have common sense and the brains to match. I'm just sayin'

Pretty sad how misery loves company offline and online...I can't imagine wasting my time personally attacking people who don't walk through my front door or sit at my dinner table every day. I also read the ignorant remarks about how women aren't capable of writing/speaking so intelligently.

I actually saw this same BS on another forum I stumbled upon and they were dogging Alexa Smith whom I think is the ess aych eye tee. I feel as though I am a cold piece in my own right given the successes I've had in my own business. I usually don't say much on here, but dude got me a lil wome (a country term meaning "heated") also with his ignorant remarks.

But anyway, shout out to all the women on the forum, paying her own costs to be her own boss!

I haven't read the post in question yet but sounds like someone needs a time out already!

I didn't take it very seriously. I've never been accused of not being a woman before. lol. I respect or disrepect or just simply agree or disagree with someone based on the content of their posts ... not their gender. There are many men and women alike in this forum who deserve a great deal of respect for their contributions and then there are the ... trolls.

... and in case there are lingering doubts, my kids are coming over tomorrow to celebrate Mother's Day ... not Father's Day or Transgender Day

Happy Mother's Day to all that the celebration applies to!

Suzanne, I'm glad you didn't take that nonsense seriously. I don't post much, but I browse a lot and I appreciate your input on this forum...whatever gender you are/were/will be. *cues theme from The Crying Game*

Sure, honey, one sandwich coming right up. By the way, didn't you say you were going to mow the lawn this weekend? Oh and the oil light in the car came on today--you should probably look into that. Which reminds me, that pipe under the sink is still leaking. It isn't going to fix itself, you know. And before I forget, Timmy needs money for his football uniform. I'd give him some, but I already spend all my pay on lettuce, tomatoes, shoes, and jewelry. :p

Joe, I missed that thread too. But I've read enough of bowerboy's tripe to imagine the low brain cell count it would have taken.

I had a discussion with a female friend of mine the other day. She asked me why "men" (all inclusive) had such a problem with women being equals.

I told her I couldn't speak for all men, just myself. And if she wanted to come down to our level, she was quite welcome... :p

We women entrepreneurs rarely stop working - most of us have homes to run on top of running the business.

So yes, a woman is most definitely "worth her weight in bandwidth".
And many of us women do it all on our own - without a man in the house.

It's a shame that men don't demand that we make them sandwiches more often. There are so many tasty surprises we can include, like dog hair and carpet fluff. I can't understand why we only get such demands once and then never get asked again.

I have no idea what thread is being referenced, or what exactly was said.

But, I've built a business out of written communication.

And, I did it all along with keeping the house tidy, ironing, doing craft with my daughter, and without my husband or kids missing out on breakfast every morning and home-cooked meals every night!

I thought I was getting permission to eat the bar of chocolate I had just unwrapped when I saw the title.

I saw the other thread and managed to stop myself from joining in, but I thought Suzanne held her own and made him look like what he was - a plonker out to wind somebody up. I doubt anybody in their right mind would take him seriously, but I would take most of the women on this forum seriously

It's sad a statement like this even has to be made. Gender ought to be so completely irrelevant to one's entrepreneurial savvy. File this under "things that make me mutter and rant".

I read the thread (time out of my life I'll never get back)...and I wasn't sure if Bowerboy:

    1. Has no women in his life whatsoever so doesn't really have a clue.

    2. Has women shipped in on a time machine from 1898

    3. Is simply a jerk.

    I decided on 1 & 3.

Suzanne didn't say anything that any woman (or man) on here wouldn't say.

And believe me... if I were going to use a woman's avatar to simply draw more business I'd use a young blond. So yes, my pic is really me.

I had that happen once. I run a travel blog, and a man, probably an older man, emailed me one day and said

Your site has the picture of a very pretty girl named Lisa. Have you ever seen the Discover Card commercials with “Peggy?” How come I get the feeling that there’s a man named “Lisa” on the other end of these e-mails?

That really threw me for a loop. Why in the world DID he get that feeling? He says girl, I am in reality almost 40 ... so that's why I think he's probably some old guy who has been ignoring the reality of intelligent women all around him for 60+ years.

On the bright side though, that means he thought you looked like a model. If a woman emailed me to accuse me of using a male models picture on my blog and pretending it was me, I'd be down the pub celebrating for at least a week!

I confess ... I don't really smoke cigars. They make me choke and cough. It was surprising that the thread went that way, but he dinged people who hadn't even seen the thread such as Paul (he referred to by initials only, TPW, Caliban, Fluffy the Wondercat (who did make one little comment), etc.

I looked at some of his other threads and posts and he made disparaging remarks about others and in general just seemed to have a beef with many on this forum and the marketplace in general.

Who knows why trolls do what they do. I've never been able to figure out what they get out of it. I've been on the Internet for a long time and have always used my real name and identity and certainly, if I were a man pretending to be a woman, wouldn't it be more beneficial to choose a more alluring avatar? lol.

I did not read the original thread so I do not know what is being referred to but I think women have a huge advantage over men.

They tend to work faster and are more organized.

The only reason men can compete with them is because they often lack confidence and self belief. Once they have that they are lethal!

As for sandwiches I cook and enjoy the creativity in it, I also like the giving aspect of it.

Whether it is men or women there are people who USE others and those that GIVE for altruistic reasons. I would rather be in the latter group even if it means some take advantage.
