how good are these TRENDY Urban/Pop domains?

Hey, I've noticed there's a group of urban/hip hop enthusiasts on here.

I got some new domains I felt were pretty awesome and some old ones I'm sitting on. I Want opinions.


Without speaking anything else, how well do you think these will convert?

    I try to avoid hyphens, but as far as conversion rates go your domain has little to do with it.

    How do you mean 'convert'?
    Plain domaining eg selling them on: slim to zero chance.

    Building out sites, maybe, but unless they are semi EMDs for decent volume terms (not checked) i'd prefer a non hyphened brandable .com

    newrap.org isnt bad
    the youngsters are taking pride that their rap is a bit different than the previous generations rap.

    it's not really different, they are just in the age range when they are exposed to things they hadnt been previously and you naturally tend to think that because YOU just discovered it that it didnt exist before.

    anyway, thats the one I would build

    A domain is completely worthless unless you do something with it. Since the Penguin update a week or two ago, EMD is less meaningful than ever before.

    I have 20+ EMDs and 1 domain that's named after me. You know which one gets the most traffic? The one named after me. I haven't even bothered to try to rank anything on my main domain as it's just a semi-personal / business blog I post to once a week or so...but it ranks first page for a couple of keywords in Google. (Don't ask...I don't have a freakin' clue how it does...there's not a single backlink pointing at those pages or keywords!!!)

    i disagree. That's not true, EMD's still matter > Your seo methods is probably what has your site's dropping in ranks. Probably some black or grey hat techniques causing you a drop

    I have 5 EMDs that are holding strong as long as I update them.

    I do agree though, you need to have at least a little content up . Most of these sites do and have had content up for over a year. I realized that was necessary long ago.

      Read my post again. I never said any of my rankings dropped...I just told you which domain was the most popular.

    Can't make any judgement just looking at a domain name. It all depends on what you do with it.

    If you are just talking about trying to resell the domains, my guess would be they wouldn't do that well. However, it all depends on who wants it and how bad they happen to want it. So you never know.

      I have to agree. I've been mega excited over EMD's before and they've done nothing. The sites I concentrate on strongly, creating them into a business and brand have always worked the best. Yes EMD's are a lot easier to rank for a specific keyword, but they tend to be hard to rank. I get turned off by a result sometimes when its an EMD including hyphens.

    I've had a good time so far but you still need to consistently update.
    i stopped updating many of these cnsistently BUT They have great page/domain authority so when i get a developer to redesign with CMS + writers, I will jump up rankings a lot quicker
