Hi Jenn. I am not sure what you mean. I use Vista and when I put my computer onto sleep I just move the mouse around to wake it up again. But if its asleep how are you going to read this. If, however, it locks you have to disconnect the computer and restart it.

    Hope this helps

ok, fairly easy...right click somewhere on the desltop and click on "personalize". Then click on "screensaver", then on "change power settings". Now the box you see has a button on the sidebar that says "Change when the computer sleeps". Now you can set that to whatever you like. You're quite welcome.

    Hi, Norma,

I have had all sorts of advice on Vista from many 'experts' - I still have a machine that is totally useless because Vista seems to run independently. The worst aspect is when I am in the middle of working and the system decides to install updates! It simply closes what I am doing (no auto-save) and installs!

I also have this sleep mode problem but nobody has been able to cure it.

To my mind, Vista is the most diabolical and over-hyped operating system I have ever suffered with. How MS managed to get it installed as the default operating system on all lap tops sold in Europe seems beyond good marketing - more like dictatorial practice.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

Could not agree with you more. I have gone through a real nightmare since it arrived on my computer. You are right about it closing down and not saving things but I use Firefox and if that closes unexpectedly you at least get your sites back that you were viewing or working on.

Can't fathom the sleep business as I don't have that problem. The worst thing for me now is that it is completely incompatible with all my old system programs. Can't even get my files from old computer to load into it.

Vista is a nightmare. I hope when Windows 7 comes out it'll be better. I had the privilege to beta test it and it's much better than Vista.
