In need of Free Traffic

I agree with Youtube. Many are saying Youtube is becoming the new source of traffic as their algorithm is far different to google.

I would go with YouTube. It is the best thing going right now. You can always do some forum marketing too. I believe that video marketing is going to be your best free traffic source.

I agree that Youtube can be a good source of free traffic. Also use QA sites like Yahoo answer to get traffic to your websites. And good part of these traffic is they are well targeted, so you will get decent conversion as well.

Also work on Google, you can just ignore any free traffic!

Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. YouTube is also an excellent source of traffic.

I can only agree and say YouTube definitely.

Press Releases can help big time. Also, I'm not sure how web 2.0 properties are holding up (lack of testing funds at the current moment) but maybe try that as well.

Social is a little difficult to get going quickly. But it can help as well.

If you want free traffic then you must concentrate your efforts on one thing at a time or you'll get no where.

Setup monthly challenges like "30 videos in 30 days"... answer questions your niche is having, one answer per video. Make sure you give a solid answer.

Another one might be "25 articles in 30 days" for syndication. A lot more care and quality control has to go into articles for syndication so take your time and do a quality job but the results will be well worth it.

Think of more challenges each month!

Do these challenges on top of your normal daily Internet Marketing tasks. The challenges just give you the added incentive to make sure it gets done each day no matter what.

I think youtube can become a good source of huge traffic through quality videos.

Youtube is a free and effective traffic generator. Articles and blog page are effective also. But need to put in a lot of effort and time. I not a good writer but will find source to overcome this challenge.

To be honest, that's where I get most of my free traffic from too. Just make sure that your videos are helpful and you have a super strong call to action as there is A LOT of distractions/leaks on the page on your typical Youtube video page.

It is a great source of free traffic.
I also comment on a lot of Blogs in my niche. This has also helped greatly.

I suggest you spend some time guest posting on high traffic blogs in your niche. This not only comes with free traffic but also builds relationships and reputation in your specific field. Just make sure your post is useful to the majority of your target readers.

Article Marketing, Web2.0 and Social Networks still work very well for conversion. With articles, don't submit crap to tons of directories, same with web2.0. And the social media side, be a person, not a spambot posting offer after offer. Engage, listen, help, build trust, then SELL.

Yahoo Answers can be a great source of targeted traffic. Also video marketing, forum posting, blog commenting, guest posting.

Well, I know this isn't what you want to hear, but Google is still the main beast. You can play YouTube, but since Google owns them too they will start to crack down on anything they decide not to agree with.

My suggestion is to NOT give up on Google.

When its about free traffic my absolute favorite is youtube just as for many people here.

Besides YouTube, try some of the other social medias, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Then to get more free traffic try Digg and Reddit.

Another method is use backlink strategies
One way links or back links, certainly the best of the too. One way links are great because they don't require you to list the other site on your site. This gives the link more value to the search engines. have listed my favorite methods

1) Write and submit press releases about your products or website. When you submit your site to the press release directories they in turn send them out to other major directories and search engines. With your submission you include the url to your site, every time the directory sends your press release out your back links are multiplying.

2) Participate in niche related forums, you can include your link in your signature file for one thing. For another every time you make a relevant posting your link is also posted giving you more back links. The same thing applies to blog posting.

3) Write and submit niche related article to article directories. This establishes you as an expert in your field as well as gets you numerous back links to your site. You can also publish your article on your own site or blog, this provides an easy way to constantly update your content and keep your site fresh.

The other type of links we will discuss are reciprocal links, this is where you exchange links with other niche related websites and blogs. I recommend placing a category page on your site, this will look more professional to your visitors. Then place each link you exchange in their proper category. Try and exchange links with higher page ranks then you, remember quality over quantity.

With time and dedicated link building your site or blog will advance in page rank and climb higher in the SERP's. This is the easiest way of getting quality organic targeted web traffic.

I think posting the relevant comments on the relevant blogs is also one of the greatest source of getting the traffic.

To generate free traffic to your website, you can do activities as mentioned by luciecarlier. Some more activities are Guest blog posting, social page creation, video marketing, Q/A etc.

Forums are best choice for free traffic...Even video sharing sites...

Search Engines can get you a lot of traffic. You must put your effort in regaining the lost ranking after the new Google update instead of finding other source for traffic.

Generate good quality links, add more content to your website, remove any bad links that you might have added earlier.

There is some great advice but it really depends on your niche, youtube works with some and not with others forum marketing is another option

Start with where your niche buyers hang out where do they go for info? There is a way to get active personally with your buyers do it be it with comments or through giving information that counts ...

Dropping of in the SERPs in a worry but connect with your audience and it will never be something you loose sleep over ...

Targeted traffic is key my friend hang out at all the places your customer will hang out, forums, social networking sites (Facebook Twitter myspace), blogging communities, interact and leave good relevant helpful information.

As for free, check out sites like "tube mogul" which is a free mass video submission service, submit articles to article directories, use sites like squidoo and hubpages, the key is to post helpful content over all these places with a call to action.

Hey, one of the effective way is byPress release marketing, just write a good press release and submit to some of the top free press release directories, and remember choose your keyword properly by Google Keyword Tool, so you can have better ranking for your keywords.

If you have limited budget, after you can hire people from Fiverr.com and do the PR distribution, some of them offer 25 press release sbmission just $5, but very important to ask them send the directories list for you to review before purchase any gig, so you can make sure is good PR directories.

You could try paid traffic, a lot of people are turning to this after constant Google updates. I would check what links are linking to yourself - I think Google will penalize sites that are in "bad neighborhoods"

Ive never used YouTube for free traffic. Im not how i would put this into my business structure with the nature of my online store. Any ideas are welcome. I think social networking sites are really good twitter and facebook. I use PPC for paid advertising but obviously to get traffic to your site for free is what you aim for really

Youtube is great. Also, social sites like Facebook and Twitter work. Truly manual backlinks is also a great way. There are multiple ways to get some great traffic.

YouTube quality is at an all time low.
Pinterest will not work if you are using affiliate offers as they use software that will strip your links.

You will make more money with highly targeted traffic than just traffic.

Now everyone runs to YouTube. YouTube sees the increase in low-quality videos and clamps down. Now everyone has to run to a new website. All that work just for some 'free traffic.'

Youtube is great but promoting youtube is another thing.

All the great advises are are already given above. But I will only state to one little tip. You can try social bookmarking. This will give you some immediate boost in your traffic.

By far the best free traffic available is from the process and method of repurposing content. In other words, using ALL/most traffic free traffic sources/mediums.

For instance, you can take your articles or posts from your site and have them turned into slideshows and submit them to youtube (which is awesome for traffic as everyone has mentioned) and other video sharing sites. Next, you can take those slideshows and have them submitted to slide sharing sites (there are dozens). Next turn your slideshows/articles into podcasts and submit those to podcast sharing sites (again, there are a sh*tload of them). And finally, you can take your original posts and not only submit them to article directories ( I would only bother with the top 1-3), but also bundle them in groups of (coherent) 10 or so and create ebooks and kindle books and submit them to free ebook directories and to amazon.

Repurposing content is a lot of work, but it can be outsourced and it drives a TON of traffic when done properly. And 'passive' traffic at that.

What has worked great for me is guest posting, forum marketing, and sharing on social sites. Press Releases are good also.

I see you are already using forum marketing and social promotion you know is using facebook, twitter, and linkedin to share your content

But...

When you find a popular site in your niche who allows guest posting that can possibly drive targeted traffic back to your site and it could go viral. That depends on how great the content is of course. but their is not doubt that you will get a backlink plus traffic.

Don't fret that you're not getting a lot of traffic to your site in the first couple of months. It usually takes from 6 months to 2 years for an average blog to get more traffic, and most bloggers give up in between that period.

Here are a few tips to help you get more traffic:
1. Guest Posting

3. Social Networking
4. Blog Commenting

6. Web 2.0 (Wordpress, Blogger, Squidoo)

If you follow all of these tips your website will be KILLER. I suggest using the "Goal-Gift" method which basically means setting goals and targets and reviewing them after 30 days.

For example "Publish 1 article a day for 30 days" or "Comment on 20 blogs per day for 30 days" - something that shouldn't be too difficult to do. After 30 days, if you have been consistent, give yourself a pat on the back. Go to the store and buy something you like - the latest video game or even a candy bar.

You could use youtube, forums, pinterest, facebook, twitter, press releases, article directories, etc. and BUILD A LIST. Keep building your list and treat your subscribers with respect by trying to help them and by promoting only products you personally bought or would buy!

Personally, I have not had great traffic from YouTube even though I have LOTS of quality videos there.

Use free classified ad sites, like CL and Backpage. If you can spare 5 bucks, then there is a gig on Fiverr that will post 75 ads for you on Backpage, which has many people leaving good feedback and repeat buyers.

Also, use Squidoo, article syndication to related blogs, posts on related forums, etc.

One other thing similar to having your own list is to build up your followers on Twitter, friends on Facebook, Myspace friends, StumbleUpon contacts, Linkedin, Google + circles, etc.

I have several Facebook Fanpages, 1 has over 13,000 fans and gives me instant traffic anytime I post a link there to a new post on my blog.

Same thing when I post a link for my Twitter followers, MySpace friends, etc. : Instant traffic.
