how much commission/percentage to I charge?

Hi, I'm a newbie and I have been reading through this great site...WOW... so much info and help!

I have my own domain and I know how to create websites, what I don't know and need help with is marketing.

A friend of mine had quite a few things she would like me to sell for her and I know how to research the info for these items to sell the, but what I don't know is "how much commission/percentage to I charge" her for each sale?

I thought starting out with this little venture would be a good place to learn without getting overwhelmed right off the mark.

If anyone can suggest what guidelines to use or percentages, I would really appreciate it.

thanks,

Depends on the price you are going to sell that product and depends on how many visitors you have on your site. If you want to charge for a higher % then you should grant her a large number of people which will see the offer and probably buy it.

If you're just starting out, you should rather be focused on building a big list of buyers. So, offer anything from 60-100% commissions to attract affiliates. Of course, in the short term there's not much money in these rates, but you'll have your list.

In the long run, this is the most profitable way to go. At a later date you can drop commissions to 20-50%

Great ... now at least I have an idea. I will get the site up and started. I will also see if there is a niche that I can tie into the site and make it work for a bigger impact.

    Thanks...
