How Facebook could be the New Google Adsense?

Why Adsense? Why not a search engine?

Not that I am a Facebook fan, but I definitely think social networking will go a long way forward. And more so in the commercial space.

Think of it for a moment. Pretend you are searching for something...

Now, if that something is meant for research (think "how many legs should a healthy dog have") then that's more likely to be searched on a platform like what Google is today.

But, the moment the intention starts to become a search for buying (think "what's the best tool use ensure the health of all the legs of my dog"), the trust goes more and more to people you know. So in this case, you would probably trust your friend's review more than a random person's one.

If Google Plus ever wins the social networking battle or comes even close to it, then Google will win this overall battle. But right now, Facebook is miles ahead of Google in social networking and there's no obvious timeframe that Google's going to catch them up.

So, for commerce, it might very well be social networking sites ahead of search engines in future, for many (if not most) of the commercial intent searches.
