What is the best membership script?

I have been doing script installs for warriors, and I have seen 2 versions. There is DLGuard and Amember. These are the best. I personally prefer DLGuard. These are not membership scripts per say but you can use any free software like Wordpress, Joomla, or Drupal and create a membership site using these software packages.

There is also the Memberfire script. But it isn't as nice as having a good theme on one of the free software packages I mentioned above. Now if you have plenty of money, there is also the Butterfly Marketing script.

But DLGuard + Free Software = Your best option.

With DLGuard you can basically put your forum installation within a folder, and it will be protected by the DLGuard script. If you later wanted to add something else for an additional fee, or for no fee at all... you could still do that with DLGuard. It is easy to add and remove users from groups which is how you control access to these resources.

The other application offer all of that except for the OTO option. I am not certain if that is offered... but that is negligible. OTO's are just a few line of code.

EasyMemberPro... I had nearly forgotten about them. They are very comparable to Amember Pro. DLGuard is $127 for unlimited sites. EasyMemberPro is $297 for unlimited sites. I believe Amember is $179... not sure if that is 1 site or unlimited sites.

If you don't know how to install scripts or copy and past code, then go with Easy Member Pro. It has a built in Affiliate system. Its GUI is also very user friendly. I'm not certain what Amember's GUI is like... but DLGuard would take a little getting used to.

1. Joomla + AEC component + JACL component
2. Joomla + Amember/DLGuard
3. Drupal + Amember/DLGuard
4. Wordpress + Amember/DLGuard
5. Membergate

My personal choice - Drupal + Amember. You get best of both worlds, Drupal has powerful user levels and amember assigns user to drupal roles perfectly. One of my sites (plrvideodepot.com) runs on drupal and amember and handles data really well.

I have EasyMemberPro and although I haven't implemented it yet I think it has many good features based on the sites I have seen built from it. The documentation that comes with it explains everything and the Warrior that sells it (Kim Standerline) is a stand up gal.

Personally I think its my own Nanacast.com because it does not require any script to install, you can add it to any existing site you want, it takes minutes to set one up, and there is no limit to how many you can create and run from one account with one central affiliate program.

Then there are about 100 killer features too numerous to list here that I could mention as additional benefits.

Additionally for those who want to get technical and use Nanacast as the back and turn any wordpress blog, jumla site, drupal site, vbulletin forum, etc into a membership site we just released a simple outbound api:

API - Outbound api

Plus our system is fully integrated to both automatically add and automatically remove subscribers from both Aweber.com and Getresponse.com

Additionally it is fully integrated with on demand physical cd, dvd, book, binder, and combo pack printing services.

Also you can sell products (digital and physical) as well as podcasts and rss feeds and run your own affiliate program.

I have Easy Member Pro, it has some great options, and members can promote the site, and make their money back via the built in affiliate program.

I know Johnny Slater Simple Member Pro does
the time release content which I'm using on one
of my main sites selling multiple product...

  Also there is a good application called Membership Ease its like basic functions, but
  I think the application is very solid. (and much cheaper than Amamber, if you're on a tight budget, $27).

  I own DL Guard, Amember, and Launch Formula Marketing. I use LFM the most when I need to set up a membership site or a secure digital download site. After that, I use DL Guard.
  
  To correct a previous post, DL Guard can be installed on 2 of your sites but you can have unlimited products with both installs. LFM is unlimited sites and Amember is one site with additional plug-ins that you pay for.
  
  LFM and the latest version of Amember offer "chunked" content delivery. To date, I haven't used that feature in either script so I don't know how well they work or how easy they are to set up.

I use possession defender, main purpose is to protect your downloads/thank you pages as it requires an account (membership) to access the page. You can configure it for memberships and i believe it as an affiliate program built in but you need to tweak it for it to happen. Seen $affid in the coding and in the MySql database as well.

It never gives away the location of the zipped file and limits the amount of downloads allow default set at 2. It logs ip address, they can open as many accounts as they please but when they login it always takes them to the first account they opened.

Any ways thats what i use and seem to work the best for me...

Nanacast.com has that.

It will let you schedule content to be delivered immediately, timed release, real time broadcast, even look up an individual and post a page only to their account.

All that and you do not have to install a single script or code anything.

  Really it depends on what you want to accomplish. For 90% of my online businesses I use JV Manager 2 Fantasos.
  
  I also use Rapid Action Profits when I'm creating short reports that I want to go viral and give 100% commission.
  
  I have also used the Butterfly Marketing Script. This script is superior to Rapid Action Profits but is not the best route when using the viral 100% commission model.
  
  Really, you need to hammer down to what you need the membership script for and then make a choice based on your needs.
  
  Also, Rapid Action Profits allows for add-ons, and from what I see an addon can really make rapid action profits is the way to go.

Hi Erin,

I use a number of membership scripts from free to four figures for a variety of purposes - the thing I find is that you really need to decide what features and benefits you need to make your business model work - I could waffle on about the finer points of a lot of scripts - but I won't.

Decide what is necessary for YOU and then look at the support (test it), experience of the company supplying the script and whether there is an upgrade/addon path for some time to come.

I've used Amember in the past, and it worked well. One thing I would caution: in my experience all of these scripts take some technical knowledge. They're not plug 'n play. So expect to spend some time setting it up or highering someone to set it up for you.

Hi Erin,

I am very pleased with Amember -- it is very flexible and allows you to create whatever look and feel you want for your content pages.

You can create unlimted products and member levels, and the software does not box you into running a membersite the way the programmer thinks it should be run.

I've been frustrated with most other scripts.

Highly recommended.

I have used amember for a number of sites, and even though the price has climbed over the years, I have found it still is a very good choice for my most recent site. I am especially pleased that there is now a specific widgit for wordpress for use with amember to build membership areas of blogs, and plan to try a membership blog soon.

Is it the best? Well, I never install myself, so my answer would have to be from a user end, and that I can say is very do-able and effective, even if you are a little techno-phobic like I am.

I'm always amazed ( er, maybe now just amused ) when simplicity escapes even the greatest of thinkers.

The SOLUTION has been staring everybody right in the face - everybody here on this thread that is that keeps talking about task-specific individualized scripts (i.e., think Amember for Membership features or Butterfly Marketing for one-time-offer / upgrade management, etc.).

There's no longer any need to attempt to integrate the best of all scripts or attempt to purchase and INSTALL one script to do one task and other to do another.

Josh Anderson, who I've got to know very well over the past 5 months, in my opinion has a sleeping GIANT in his hands (and now my hands ).

I've scraped a $3,000 supposed all-inclusive e-commerce centralization and management system for Josh's Nanacast. READ THAT AGAIN. An expensive high-end system whose entire value proposition was "automation and centralization of your online business."

Yeah, will absolutely possible if I wanted to hire a IT guy/gal dedicated to updating the platform, adding / tweaking paid plugins and on top of that... paying a monthly fee for support and upgrades.

So, when I saw what's truly under the hood at Nanacast.com, I was pleasantly SHOCKED ! ( in a good way ).

I'd have to say amember is one of the easier scripts to work with. I've looked at many and their interfaces or features are usually lacking something I need. Amember seems to have them all or at least easy to find plugins to upgrade for use (eg; wordpress bridge, forum bridge, etc).

Or perhaps it's because:
1. Rapid Action Profits, itself, isn't a membership script...
2. the Membership Add On for Rapid Action Profits was only launched just over 30 days ago, and
3. if you search this forum for rapid+action+profits, you'll find something like 7+ pages of threads. (Maybe they just distracted others from this particular thread???)
In spite of that, (for your sake) I sure hope that your evaluation of a product goes beyond just a count of the number of posts where it is mentioned.

  howtofishing says it's the best because HE/SHE is selling it. This person owns a ton of sites using the script to sell the script. He/she also owns a ton of domains with the script pre-installed and is selling the domains with the script. Furthermore, they are selling Resale Rights and Private Label Rights to the script from several sites and using many different prices. You will also find this same person selling the script on eBay or at least linking to his/her various sites selling the script.
  
  And it looks to me like that's the only reason he's here at the Warrior Forum as well. If you find other posts from this user, each post is a small ad for the script.
