What are your favorite on-page optimizing tools?

INTERNET MARKETING

I'm looking for tools to help me optimize specific web pages or articles to rank as highly as possible for a specific keyword phrase. I'm not talking about off-page optimization stuff like building backlinks, but on-page stuff like use of H1, bold, keyword density, etc.

I've bumped into a few that are web-based, and found some that you download and install. Some are free and some cost money. I'm trying to figure out which ones are best to help me get my optimization "just right"--not overly optimized, but not leaving too much on the table either. I don't mind investing in a tool if it's genuinely worth the money.

Anyone have any suggestions?

  I just use my main keywords in the title and no more than once or twice in the body. If you write naturally without trying to include your keywords in every other sentence you will automatically include related keywords and phrases that you will get ranked for too.

  I personally don't play the SEO game anymore. When I write for the web, I use the right keywords in the title and body. If google doesn't pick it up, I no longer bother. There's more in life ;-)

i recently use website.grader.com to check for things like basic onsite seo, H1 tags.

The rest is hand-editing my templates/themes. Since i use WP now exclusively MOST is done by plugins, so i really only correct if some themes just do stupid things, eg. NOT setting post title in H1 and similar.

With WP i have way less work to do "optimizing" a site as opposed to a few years ago.

Thanks for the good suggestions so far. The Meta Tag Analyzer and Web Site Grader were both really good and helped me out with some good suggestions.
