Product Owners - Have a Sale!

I recently had an opportunity to invest in a pretty cool (and lucrative) opportunity but I was a little short on cash for it. So, as I racked my mind trying to think of a way to get a little cash injection, the thought of having a sale popped into my head.

The most simple, obvious, common sense thing in the world........ I HAD NEVER DONE with any of my products.

So, I thought I'd try one. I suppose it was because I didn't really think of information products like I would with a product from a retail type store, so I wasn't sure if it would work or not.

But let me just say, holy crap! It totally worked! haha.

I ran a promotion for a sale for mothers day, nothing special really, just a discount, and a bundle upsell.. just popped it out to my list with a "buy your mom X" type message, and changed a few already circulated article and video bios that I had already published to say that there was a mothers day sale (with a date in the bio so people knew it was recent) and bam, a noticeable sales difference in my numbers!

The important thing to note here is, that I did already have a list (although only 433 people), and I did already have advertisements in the form of articles and videos out there.. But, I didn't have to create ANY new content really, I just went back and edited the stuff that was already responsible for driving the most traffic already.

Anyhow, just wanted to point out that sometimes having a sale can offer the cash injection you need if there's a product that may be going a little stale or just floundering a little. Or if you just want to boost the volume of a product that's doing decent already.

It's something I overlooked for a loooooong time, and I can't even give you a good reason why.. It doesn't have to be complicated, and there are tons of reasons to have a sale! Go try one!

Great idea man! I love the little posts like this that are packed with power. It's the little ideas that most people won't try that make all the money.

I agree.. A sale is a great way to get money quick.

I love running Frank Kern's 4 Day Cash Machine, which is basically just a simple 4 day sale.

It normally works well for me.

      YES!

I totally spaced on that one too... I bet I could have improved my results even more if I would have followed that actually.

I tend to subscribe to the "set it and forget it" mentality for the sales funnel aspect on my products. Tinkering with sales funnels isn't really my passion, so once I get one that works, I generally stick with it because it was always my perception that running sales and promotions and stuff was complicated and time consuming, and it's NOT (or doesn't have to be be, anyway)!
