How to Promote a New Social Content Sharing Site for Gamers?

Hey Guys,

I am 21 years old and have created a new social content sharing site specifically for gamers: The Video Game Awards dot com

The problem is, how do i reach people? How do i get the name out there and promote the brand?

Thanks,

Kenneth Ashley

I have a pretty great and inexpensive service that can help. If interested, it's in my signature.

Other than that, PPC (google adwords) and social networking are great ways to promote a site.

After seeing the site, I would also post videos to youtube about it, as gaming can be promoted pretty well on youtube. Make sure you use good tags.

    Kenneth,

There are a number of ways to promote your site. Find you target audience and constantly deliver quality information to them.

For example, I have a Wordpress Conference that I am doing this weekend for my subscribers. This is a completely free event, and is for people interested in using WP to build their business. I look for places to connect with people where they would be interested in learning about Wordpress.

Where does your target market hang out? Are they using Google search? Great write appropriate content. Maybe they are on Facebook? Set up a fan page and provide interesting contests to encourage more subscribers? Maybe you can add in some FB ads to the mix. Finally, is your audience on other gaming sites or networks? Can you start connecting with them on those networks and driving them to your site?

I am sure that the more you start to think of great ways to connect you will be able to find amazing possibilities for driving quality traffic to your gaming site.

(BTW: If you are interested in the WP conference go to MarketLately.com)

    Kenneth,

Have you begun to grow an e-mail subscriber list yet? If not, I would definitely begin there. I'd start siphoning off traffic from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. You can get really cheap paid traffic from Facebook, like for a few pennies, if you do it right. Open a DirectCPV account, where you can get traffic for 1.5 cents / click; but don't do any direct linking. Drive your traffic to a high converting squeeze page, if you don't already know that. Make sure the squeeze page you use has been proven to covert by a systematic series of rigorous tests. Just when you think you've tested it enough, then test it again, and again! Keep tweaking for perfection. Leave no room for guesswork!

Because this is sort of a Social Networking site for gamers I'm not quite sure how to deliver great content to an audience.

Great content can be a lot of things.

Interesting articles, unique takes on the news, some kind of "gimmick"

You could do a weekly news roundup where you give awards for biggest PR blunder from a game company, best game of the week, etc.

Ok that sounds like a plan. I feel like all i need is a little spark and a site like this could take off.

Don't forget though, and not to be discouraging, but a little work takes a lot of work. Don't expect it to just take off tomorrow or even in the next few months. If you keep that in mind, you won't be quickly discouraged, which happens often with newer internet marketers.

Thanks. I'm young but i have been doing SEO for around 2 years. I was just unsure on the approach to take since this is not a regular blog. This is a social networking site.

No problem. It is usually the same for most everything, but slight things work better and worse for different niches. Either way, good luck!
