How do you protect an ebook idea? from product creator theifs?

If i have 2 ebook ideas and i want to approach some freelancer writers to draft and write it, what can i do to stop them from taking the idea and creating it themselves?

can i do any measures to protect it, and keep my idea mine, so the writer doesnt write it himself, and puts his name on the ebook ?

Seriously, people, I see this type of question too often. How many times have you actually heard of this happening? I've been doing this for a long time now and have never heard of one time that a writer ripped off an idea to do their own book.

Most writers already have their own business - providing writing services. While a few of us cross over to other branches of general IM, most writers don't want to do that. They want to write.

You can have someone sign an NDA if you want. Personally, I'd tell you to take a flying leap. If you don't trust me, why the hell should I want to work with you?

And like Will said, it's not like you can actually STOP them. You can't copyright ideas.

Once you release the book, if the concepts are at all new, you'll see copycat products within weeks, if not days, anyway.

Well sometimes it is hard to trust people who you approach for work.

so no harm in asking for a NDA.

Singing a NDA is probably the best way of doing that.

Of course, try to know more about reputation of the writer you're working with.

Here are some things you can do to protect yourself:

    1. Have all writers sign a strong NDA. They are not bulletproof, but you can sue if they do disclose inappropriately and your idea is stolen or damaged.
    2. Document all discussions and/or conversations you have with prospective writers via email, text or similar.
    3. Make sure you only hire writers with the best reputations. They may cost more than those who are newbies but I'm assuming you want quality over quantity. Also, they don't want to lose their cred by stealing confidential book topic ideas.
    4. When in doubt discuss all your options to protect your idea with your attorney.

    Good luck to you.

There is very little you can do about it. The fact is this person could create a similar book that is close enough but still different enough that the NDA is redundant. They could also be selling a similar book to yours and you never find out about it -- the Internet is a very big place.

If you waste your time worrying about things like this then you will get nowhere. Just get the book created and start selling it. The reality is the product is only half the battle. It's how you then market and sell that product. Two people selling the exact same product will always have very different results.

First off, it's "Thief". Not "theif".

Also, the answer to your question is pretty simple: You can't protect ideas. At all. You can't trademark an idea and you can't keep people from taking your idea and running with it.

What the experts do for product creation is commission a writer with great feedback to do the gig for them, make sure the finished product is better than the others on the market, and get the proper copyrights in place.

The real key to not letting imitators beat you by copying your product is to have superior marketing in place. For example, look at some of the top-selling Clickbank products that have been at the top for a while now. They ALL have a ton of imitators, many of them also on CB, but because the owners of these products have superior marketing, sales pages, etc, they are still at the top.

I agree with your spelling correction for the word 'thief' but it should read:
product creator thieves or product creator theft?

Hey! & before anyone even thinks I am being scathing, funny or just plain bitchy lol

I am just passing the time of day away while navigating posts & don't really care if you spelt thief as theev to be honest but if anyone did want an argument about it fine... they can go ahead quote this post but never get a reply (unless of course I have made a speeling mistook lol.

Why not write the books yourself? A lot of things then aren't an issue. It's more fun, you end up with a better product and could well do better for you in the long run.
