Just want to try an idea? Or put up test site?
Why not use a .info for .99 cents. Can't beat that price!

I'm not an affiliate, just a customer.

Thought I'd pass along this great deal at 1and1.com to fellow warriors:
(I believe it's good through 6/30/12)

For new and existing customers:

.com $4.99 first year (limit 1)
.info $0.99 first year (limit 5)

Enjoy and good luck!

Jeff

[[[ Edited 5/28/12: UPDATE - For some reason 1and1 is allowing me to purchase at this price beyond the limit of just 1 .com and 5 .info Not sure if it's a mistake, but not complaining It's a great price ]]]

I'd Google 1and1 scam before taking them up. There's so many complaints about 1and1, it might not be worth it to you even at that price.

I know- well worth a read.

They are starting to advertise there website builder "My Website" on massive high quality TV commercials. They are advertising a drag-n-drop site creator.

The ad can be viewed at their website too.

Thanks for the information, but 1and1 isn't a reliable organization. Ever since the day I joined the realm of IM, I've heard nothing but crap about their service. It seems transferring domains from them is almost impossible with a very uncooperative support team. I'd be careful before investing in them.

I've registered almost a thousand domains with 1and1 with little/no problem. That's my experience.

But I've used several domain registrars. The registrar is not as important as the host, imho. For that I use Hostgator.

As long as a registrar updates, dns redirect for example, every few minutes, then who cares?

I go for easy, reliable, and cheap. I'm no raving fan of 1and1, but they do the job with millions of domains. 24/7 customer service, free private registration, auto renewal, easy cancel/expire, and most of all cheap.

Especially on sales like $.99 or $4.99, hard to argue/beat that.

Anyway, just a suggesting. Cheers to all.

WPWebhost also has domains I believe for 99cents for a very limited time.

I was getting free .info domains from Godaddy with a purchase of .com - I think it still works

Good for redirecting some link juice.

Sorry, but 1 and 1 is the only name reg service I'd avoid. Too many problems...I'll wait for another GoDaddy deal - they are awesome.

1and1 is the worst register ever. As a full Domaineer, I used them before and everything about them is terrible.
