I noticed the BBC didn't ask for my consent regarding their own cookies, but to be fair, they do have a dedicated page about BBC Cookies, which satifies the 'clear and comprehensive information about the use of cookies'.

But that still leaves the second part.

    The Law states:

A person shall not store or gain information, or gain access to information stored, in the terminal equipment of a subscriber or user unless the requirements of paragraph (2) are met.

    (2) The requirements are that the subscriber or user of that terminal equipment -
    (a) is provided with clear and comprehensive information about the purposes of the storage of, or access to, that information; and
    (b) has given his or her consent.

I'm still in the process of sorting this out for my own site and I'm wondering if others are going to comply because I haven't been asked by any website yet, except for the ICO's own site.

I for one am not going to get bogged down by all this.

When the big boys clean house, and if it becomes an issue, only then will I even consider it.

Unless of course the government gives an EU Grant £££££££ to implement it.

That law is one of the best solutions I've ever seen to scare your visitors off even before they actually visit your site... Tell them about something most of them know nothing about (cookies) and how information is going to be stored on their computer if they do visit your website!

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

I totally agree but the consequences of not complying are worse. Immediate termination of affiliate accounts if caught not using a pop up or similar to ask for consent and up to a maximum penalty of £500,000.

Seems like you have been scared by this. I guess that is what they intended.

I think they will have zero chance of policing this for most sites.

Heck if the bend over backwards UK government aren't even ready then they can go and take a hike.

They have no intention to police sites, however they will investigate complaints.

LOL it's funny but it's sad and I completely agree with you - you can picture the faces of people when I tell them a little information about cookies, what they do, and how people are making money with them.

Cookies and Lemonade heh seems to be all you really need ;]

      Peace, One.

I've said it all over this forum.

It's as daft a law as you're likely to see, and another reason why the UK should get out of the EU. Time we saw more votes for UKIP in european elections, too.

If you haven't already, sign the petition through the link in my sig.

This is what you get when you have people making decisions about things they don't understand.
