Can I trust Facebook ads

We have just tried out a few ads on Facebook for the first time. I put a modest £30 into the kitty. The stats are showing that we have received 68 clicks over the 2 day period till our kitty ran out.

How come that when I look at my stats on Google Analytics, it shows I have had just 32 Facebook referrals? I may have done something wrong but nothing obvious that I am aware of. When I tried to ask the question by emailing Facebook, I got the reply on the lines of "We are sorry that we cannot offer an individual response, please go to the resource centre"

All this when Mr Zuckerberg is about to bag a few more billion

Google analytics is not the best tool for tracking ad campaigns. A visitor could just hit back button before the page finished loading. Try prosper202. They have a free self hosted platform and it works pretty good. All your clicks would go through the redirect script you set up and you will see every click.

I posted this over in the proper forum (Ad Networks - CPA, CPM, CPL - Millionaire Makers..) yesterday and had a pretty good discussion about it. If you'd like to take a look at my thread, a few PPC specialist added some really good training links about FB ads into the thread that you might find useful. Here's a link to the thread:

I've recently been using FB ads for the first time for a hobby related site. I've been very happy with the results. Low CPC and excellent click through. I've been using the geo-targeting and interest options, so the ads are tightly targeted.

Like you, the number of clicks recorded by FB is approx twice the number of visitors recorded by stat counter. I suspect that the missing ones are people who click away as soon as they land on the site.

Thank you for you input guys. I won't be advertising on FB for the foreceeable. According to them, I have received 100 clicks and I have had zero sales. I would much rather stick to Google ads, at least there is some support offered to us (the customer) paying them good money.

I find it hard to believe that companies are spending £1000's and cannot get a response from them if there is a query.
