FTC Going After "Drip Pricing"?

Not sure that I've seen this myself in the IM industry (but then again I don't buy many, if any at all, IM products), however I'd bet it goes on in some form.

I'm not sure that I see the problem myself. It sounds like these are "add ons" that raise the cost of a product..but they don't seem to be hidden at the checkout, the customer can see everything...so what's the problem?

From reading the article it looks like IM is not really who they are targeting here. At least not yet.

    so what's the problem?
It looks pretty straightforward. They see it as false advertising. I see it applying more offline than online; but could hit those online who advertise something as a complete solution for price "x", but then you realize you need products x,y,z to really succeed at all. That's in any niche too, not just the obvious problems in the IM niche.

Do you mean as in those OTOs sold here as add-ons to WSOs promoted here?

Hummm, food for thought! Meaning, THIS could potentially apply to those WSOs promoted here too!

But, heck what do I know? I've never offered a WSO.

With that said, I ain't got nutt'n to worry about

This is in the real world.

It's not about upsells for buyers only that should be able to stand alone as separate products.

As long as your sales page describes all the benefits and features you will receive only in the main product you're fine.

Then the upsell should be a completely separate product with a separate sales page, completely.

If you do it like that you're fine.

It might annoy people who don't like upsells, but you at least you will be doing everything in a clear, forthright way.
