I am totally new to this concept of online Marketing and i really would appreciate if someone could point out the starting line to me. I not just speak for myself but many around the world who are stuck with all the information overload and a lack of mentor to point out where to head.
So please any kind of advice, suggested readings, websites that anyone can suggest. I would be grateful.
Oh and please understand i dont want to spend money in this learning phase. But i am willing to give 100% of my dedication and time in learning through the ropes of this field
Many thanks again.. :-)

Do start by reading lots of different information on the internet or even this forum. Give yourself 2 full weeks of reading. Just read on all the areas if you have total zero ideas about internet marketing. Don't go and buy anything or sign up anything.

Then you may think of what are the niche that you will like to get into. It can be internet marketing niche, dating, weight loss... find something you like.

After the reading, and you know what is internet marketing, then you should decide what you want to do. There are so many areas: SEO, blogging, PPV, email marketing, affiliate marketing... and these are just a few, and a lot of them are inter-related. Then you can look into finding yourself a mentor, or continue to follow on the area that you wanted to do. You can start investing to learn more, but always stay consistent an focus on what you are doing. This is really the key to be successful.

Yes it can be overwhelming as there is a ton of information out there. Often times, a good place to start is to first learn how to build a website. There are so many things you can do with a site, from affiliate marketing, to building a list, to PPC marketing, growing a forum community, membership sites, etc.

Generally, if you start with a basic site to promote a product, you can learn the basics of affiliate marketing, test different things out, and then move on from there.

Part of learning how to build a website entails researching a specific niche (i.e. what is your site going to be about... what will it promote... what value will it provide to visitors?). Once you decide on a niche, you'll want to do some keyword research and then work on optimizing your website with rich, quality content targeting those keywords, ranking for them, etc. Work on building your traffic to your website, and then ultimately turn that traffic into profit by means of adding affiliate products/banners to the site and/or ads.

Building a website will require some upfront costs, however... as you'll have to pay for a domain name as well as hosting (monthly fee).

Good luck in your journey and don't be afraid to ask questions along the way. There are some very smart and knowledgeable marketers in this forum that are always willing to help out.

      Elizabeth's advice (above) is good.

Decide what you want to work on. What makes you excited when you think of having an online business? Do you see yourself as an SEO expert? A product creator? A niche site creator?

Once you have that, you just have to search on here and find a method that works and then stick to it.

      Simples!

  • I think many of us have suffered from information overload at one time or another. I know I sure did. There are so many ways to build an online business. You first need to decide what it is you want to do. Do you want to do affiliate marketing or do you want to provide a service. Once you determine what you want to do then do a search on the forum for it and you will find a ton of useful information. Most people here are very willing to help and give advice. Good luck!

The problem is many people get too much information but they dont implement them on their sites. Once you gain some information / techniques / tactics , make sure those are implemented on your sites.

    Learning + Implementation = Success

I suggest that you should spend at least 1 hour a day of reading. That way you will not experience some information overload.

Start with a goal in mind.

So if your goal is to make money blogging.
Start reading blogs about blogging. Subscribe to good blogs that provides value.
That is one of the free way to learn without spending.

    Remember! Google is your friend.

I understand it can be overwhelming when you’re first starting out. I always recommend list building to all my students. This will allow you to market to the same people over & over again. It’s also allows you to build a real relationship with your customer base, which is so important when building any business.

    I hope that helps!

If you don't want to spend money simply research niches you might be interested in and write them down. Once you've wrote them down do more research into the niche keyword and see if it's profitable to create a website out of. Once you decide on your niche you can start reading loads of articles, E-books etc. to broaden your knowledge. THEN you should really think of investing your money into building a website which provides high quality content to visitors.

Ok, I'm going to tell you the 2 simplest ways that I know of to get started online.

    1. First thing you want to do is pick a niche something that you know a thing or two about. Then you want to build a blog or squeeze page around that niche. Eventually you'll want to do both, but just do one or the other for now.

Then you want to find a forum about your niche. You want to put in a description of your website or squeeze page with a link back to it in your signature. If you don't know what this is check out my signature below this post. You're going to interact on the forum, answer peoples questions, and help people that are looking for some advice. People will then want to click through to your website or squeeze page.

If your doing a squeeze page you'll need an autoresponder service like Aweber of Getresponse to collect peoples emails. When people subscribe to your list you can them email them affiliate offers or your own offers.

    2. Join Pinterest which is a image and video sharing social bookmarking website. Pinterest is a some what new social site that is growing as fast or faster than Facebook. It is now the 3rd largest social site after Twitter. You'll have to get an invitation which you can do right on the site, but it may take a while to get approved.

You'll need to create boards for different types of images you want to create. I would suggest creating an account around one broad niche and then create boards about specific subniches of that niche. Then you want to build your following by following others in your niche and pinning, repinning, liking, and commenting on different images or videos.

I would focus first on building your following first. Then you can create your own images and videos and post them on pinterest with a link going back to your site or affiliate or cpa offers. For images you would put the link in the url destination. For videos you would put your link in the description.

This is a simple overview of this method. There's a little bit more to this which you'll want to look into. But it's a really fun and simple way to make money online.

Also make sure to use the Warrior Forum as there is so much awesome information and resources here. I have a free guide in my signature that shows the best ways to utilize the Warrior Forum and make money with it.

I feel as though this is the number 1 problem with just about anything you jump into: Information overload. You see so much, and you get so riled up, and then you realize oh man, I just absorbed so much info that I don't even know where to begin. That is why I suggest you just read over what you've read again, but this time with a pen and paper, and just jot down what pops out to you the most. Whether it be building websites, PPC campaigns, whatever. Get at least 4-5 things that pop out most, and bring it down to 2. Then bring that down to one. Once you have found that out, yo can truly finally begin to make progress. Now, what you want to do is take that subject, and begin at the beginning. I suggest you go slow, and pick it up because trust me slow money is better than no money. Learn a little everyday, and make sure you implement whatever you that day. This way you will see incremental progression, and in no time you will find that you have learned more than you realized. Also, once you have found where you want to start it is good to create a plan or goal of some sort. I would say create daily, weekly, monthly goals. Don't worry too much about long term yearly goals at the beginning because you want to get yourself started, and picking up some steam. Hope that helps.

I agree with elizabeth and matt,

start off with affiliate marketing, learn the basics, placing a site together etc, how to promote products, and research on a niche, keyword research etc.. its all been mentioned above.

affiliate marketing is a good foundation to build from, and then from there you'll know what direction you wish to take from there. just interact in the forum, and ask as many questions people in here are very helpful

once again follow what elziabeth and matt suggested already you cant go wrong
