How often do you email your list and with what kind of offers?

I started list building about 2 months ago and have been making some decent money from it. Not enough to quit my day job yet since I'm still developing a relationship with my list and alot of my earnings have to go back into reinvesting in advertising like solo ads.

I've only been emailing my list every 3 days and have been alternating between a decently priced paid offer and a freebie (mostly PLR stuff). This has been 10 emails a month (all written by myself).

In browsing a lot of the list building threads, I've been seeing the following:

- Email your list every day
- Don't email your list every day
- Don't give away PLR stuff since it's always getting outdated
- Don't constantly bombard your list with paid offers
- Don't be afraid to sell to your list

I don't like getting bombarded with emails every day, so I don't think I want to spam my lists in that manner either. My current method has been working fine and I want to start scaling it up at bit.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

    Hi,

You're missing the most important thing, adding value to the person's life. The only reason they want to be on your list is to get some sort of benefit out of the relationship. They won't be upset if you send them a paid offer that genuinely helps them with a real problem. All you have to do is give them value. Begin to think in this way and your questions will be answered.

You've just answered your own question dude...seriously!!

If you have quality to send your list, then do so. If not, then don't. It really is as simple as that. You say you don't like getting emails everyday, well, i don't mind getting emails everyday. Who's right? Both of us, and none of us. It simply comes down to what you are sending to your list. If it is PLR crap, then i would advise to send your emails sparingly. Nothing turns me off more than getting free crappy eBooks all week.

Look for quality products (free & paid) to send to your list. Send them links to a cool video on another site, a brilliantly written article related to their interests. You should be spending time every single day looking for quality information to send your list. Never be afraid to email your list often, especially if you have something that can benefit them. If you're just sending stuff for the sake of it, you will begin to see your numbers dropping and emails not being opened, very quickly.

Don't follow what anyone else tells you to. It's pretty straight forward. Provide your list with better value than any of your competitors and you're gold. If you can't match some of the offers other marketers are sending out, then be the guy they know they can trust.

2 months, I would keep working on the relationship building aspect and if you're giving them free PLR take some time to go through it and add some commentary or rearrange it and add your own thoughts and ideas.

It really depends on your niche and your competition but I would say to email them 3 or 4 times a week but I would only make one of those a paid offer. Keep building and keep building a relationship and in the mean time research all the products/services you can and only offer ones that you know are top quality.

The biggest mistake I see with new marketers is that they just promote any offer to their list hoping for the sale but they fail to check the product out for themselves.

The quickest way to lose subscribers and the trust of your list is to promote something less than par.

    Hope that helps.

    Take Care!

I think the above 2 comments have some great advice. You never want to spam your list but if you are emailing every day with value then most people wouldn't consider that spam at all.

The point is that you should be developing a relationship with them while also marketing to them. Once someone purchases a product through your link you should move them to a different list of 'buyers' that you market to less frequently. This is how I structured my email campaign and I've heard this is how many of the top marketers do it.

Just to clarify, is your list in the "make money online" niche, or another market? I think that makes a big difference when it comes to how often you email.

If your list is in any kind of marketing-related niche, I definitely do not email them every day. While I can't speak for everyone, but I once noticed that I receive anywhere from 100-250 work/marketing/shopping related emails a day. This is why I ended up unsubscribing to a lot of lists - I liked what they were offering, but I didn't need an additional 5 emails a week full of sales pitches. Every three days sounds like a great balance - they will remember your name without getting tired of hearing it.

Offering PLR is not necessarily a bad thing, but I would at least look through whatever you're sending them. Particularly if it's is on social media, SEO, or anything technical - that stuff changes all the time.

Marketing wise, the best lists I've been on (and have remained with for years) are those who offer free content. Not necessarily PLR, but those either point me to a blog post, teach a simple technique, offer encouragement, or provide a time-sensitive discount or coupon code. You may want to blend something like that in as well with the PLR.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I do have a good relationship with my list and I promote things I've purchased and used personally.

I never thought of sending my list links to all the blogs/sites I read and I got quite a few bookmarked. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think it really depends on your niche how often you are emailing them. The IM niche tends to handle more emails, but other niches might not like many.

However if you are really sending something that adds value, then most lists will handle whatever you send them.

If you list knows your emails will definitely have something of value for them, then they will open it, whether it is twice a day or once a month.

I email my list everyday. But this does not mean that you have
to force yourself and be doing it everyday. there are times when
I was too busy or I was overseas and didnt email my list. this
is not a bad thing though.

What happened was some of them emailed me asking where I am. Or what
happened to me? When you receive these kind of response, you know that
your subscribers look forward to your emails.
