Is Anyone Else Having Trouble With Aweber Optin Formatting?

Hi Guys,

First of all, just to be clear, I'm not bashing Aweber. I LOVE Aweber! I just happen to be having some issues that I haven't been able to get completely resolved and was wondering if anyone else was having the same or similar problems.

That being said...

I just upgraded from an old Aweber account to a new one so I have the single optin option. Unfortunately, because my list was under the old double optin system I had to change the form on my squeeze page. This shouldn't be a problem, though. This was built in XsitePro. I use XsitePro version 2 for a lot of my squeeze pages because I find it to be quicker.

Anyway, for whatever reason, the button wouldn't line up with the name and email boxes. I sized them up perfectly within Aweber (several times), but every time I put it on the page and published it the "Submit" button was extended around a half inch to the right of the optin forms.

This was in Firefox 12. However, when I checked it in IE8 it was totally whacked!

There was a blank area of nearly an inch before the button text and even though the button itself was aligned perfectly on the left, it extended all the way off the form on the right.

They finally took a screen shot of the button image and put it on there where it looks correct, but they're saying that it's a CSS issue on my end (even though the guy also said that several other people were having the problem too, especially in IE9).

I've checked for updates in XsitePro V2 and nothing's changed for months. I also tried setting up this squeeze page using NVU, but as soon as I previewed it the same thing happened.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If so, would you please share what you did to fix it?

Thanks,

Joe

P.S. If you're using Aweber it might be a good idea to check your squeeze page and see what the optin form looks like in different browsers, especially Internet Explorer since it's the most widely used.

    Joe,

I hate Awebers new email formatting tool. That being said, you don't need to go ahead and create a whole new optin form. If your previous one is working then just go into your html and change the listname and redirect urls to reflect your new list.

    Done.

I never use their form creator, I always just integrate their code into my own forms. They look a lot better that way.

My experience with Aweber Opt-In forms is that you are better off just adding your own CSS code for button placement

I'd love to see a video on how you do this. Just sayin'. :-)

Hey Joe, IE8 is notorious for displaying whack designs when everything looks beautiful in firefox and chrome. It does this because it adds margins and padding to elements (such as your button). If you want to PM me your site, I'll take a quick look and see if I can point you in the right direction. I've had to edit stuff like this before on my sites.

    Hi Guys,

I appreciate the input. The customer service guy ended up just taking a screen shot of the button I'd made and put it on there. It looks good now, but this concerns me. Since I don't know CSS I guess I'll have to do the same thing on any new squeeze pages I build. They need to find a solution to this - fast.

I too hate the new aweber, I mean if something is working fine,
Then why change it up when we already used to it?
    Facebook does that crap too.
