I was thinking about offering PLR articles...

As a side venture to my business until my blog takes off, or maybe I'll keep doing it.

I don't really want to write individual articles as I'd rather have more control over what I write.

I was planning on choosing popular topics and trying to come up with some great new ways to look at already popular information. These will still have the same keywords, which I guess is important for buyers, but will have new content that they've probably already posted on their blogs.

I was thinking about packs of 10, 800-1200 words and pricing them at $10 with a maximum of 100 to be sold.

I have a domain name, writingbyfin.com, but I was mostly going to be advertising through a link in my signature, and hoping I get repeat customers.

Does this look good? Is there anything I'm missing? Can you even sell 100 packs through sigs?

Cheers

You would need other ways to sell apart from your signature. You won't know if they will sell until you try it

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Do you care to expand, or shall I rub my crystal balls?

That must be painful... having crystal balls.
You can run ads in here and other forums. Run an ad on your own website.
Run a Twitter ad and a Facebook ad. Simply get the word out everywhere that you can so people are aware that you have something on offer because no matter how good it is, if nobody knows about it, then it's a waste of time and effort.

      Good idea.

What about the length of the articles: do you think that 1000 words is too much considering people probably won't be using them for syndication?

Could I reduce the number of packs sold, increase the price and let people sell them in their own stores as PLR packs?

are you talking about blog posts and stuff? With the 800-1200 I would have thought that would be right. How about combining them into 35 page e-books and selling them as PLR?

What about a sales page, lead magnet and e-mail sequence and sell the e-book and eveything together as a PLR package at a higher price?

Again, good idea, but TBH I don't want to get too involved in all that stuff.

I'm going to make kick-ass articles, but after they're done I'd much rather have the sales process run as easily as possible so I can work on my site.

I'd be happy to have a link on my website and a link in my sig. Hopefully that would be enough to sell them, then I'd just have a simple shopping cart to let people buy.

Why go so cheap with longer articles? You should raise the price.
I think that's expensive for how much I would make if I sold them all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I wouldn't charge that much, but I'd rather sell every pack and I would be happy with giving people a great deal to begin with.

    Hi Fin,

    Good idea you have here!

Since you asked if something was missing, I'd say raise your price... If you sell quality content to a limited people no need to sell yourself short... I mean some people know the benefit of having good PLR content, if they smart they know they can convert it into something bigger and make they money back easily... I often buy PLR content and I have no problem spending more than $100 to find quality one that is not shared to anyone but only to few people.

I know your question was more about how to advertise it, so, yes signature is a good way to get noticed by people and there is also the WSO area, and as others have suggested, run ads here or through solo ads...

    Good Luck!

Don't forget to connect with other popular and well-respected PLR providers as well, This is a service where many providers will promote high-quality PLR from other providers, so you should offer an affiliate progam if you scale up.

PLR is a good way to go, but it is becoming more competitive. I think if you want to be successful with it you are going to have to do more marketing than simply pointing people to your signature.

For example, you say that you want to write articles that are unique and show a different point of view (which is GREAT!), but how are people going to know these articles are so good? Running a few WSOs, guest posting on some IM blogs, setting up an affiliate program, and connecting with other PLR sellers who can promote for you will pay off in the long run.
