Your Experience With Solo Ads?

Hi guys,

I have this simple squeeze page that I want to drive traffic to, and someone here on Warrior Forum recommended I should use Solo Ads for this purpose.

As far as I can understand, there are free solo ads and paid solo ads, and those services basically let you send an e-mail ad to their database of subscribed users?

Do any of you guys use this? And if so, what do you think about it, are you getting good conversions? What are some of the solo ads providers you would suggest?

If you don't use it, what do you use instead?

    If you use paid solo ads, try to rent a buyers list. For best results, the people on the list should have bought something similar in price and type to what you are offering.

    Many people feel this is the most effective way to generate either a large list of your own or product sales.

    Start searching for a buyers list right here on the warrior forum!

    Solos will certainly get you opt-ins, but many are full of freebie seekers, hence the buyers' list. You need money to do it though as these things cost.

    Coming to think of it, I've never had a bad paid solo ad.

    Although, I am very careful about what I buy and I don't mind paying extra as long as I'm receiving a very high quality.

    I've paid quite a lot for a solo ad to a couple of peoples 'buyers list'. It was well worth it though, but like I said it was pretty expensive.

    Solo ads are great, just be careful.

    Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory is a good starting point.

    Safe-swap is another great paid service to buy solo ads and do ad swaps as your list grows.

    Safe-Swaps is another popular place to buy solo ads. You are basically paying for a set amount of traffic called "clicks". Say 100 clicks might cost you $30, out of this a certain % will sign up to your squeeze page...

    It's good to have a well converting OTO on the backend to help you recoup some of your initial investment because they can be costly if you are buying them regularly.

      So basically, you can promote whichever product you like, in whichever niche you like? I ask this because so far I have only done websites which relied on Google as the primary source of (free) traffic and getting into "make money online" or "lose weight" niche was a suicide... which seems to be quite the opposite here, right?

      I mean, since you're paying for the traffic, you might as well pay for the hungriest and most desperate traffic there is. One more thing...

      Do sites like Safe-Swaps provide targeted or random traffic?

    With Safe Swaps, most of the ad swaps and the solos are in the IM or Make Money niche, so you'll find it harder to get swaps for other niches in there.

    Rather than promote a product with your solo ad, promote your squeeze page and then do a one time offer on the thank you page. This way, if you don't make any sales you will have a bunch of new subscribers who may purchase from you in the future.

    The traffic is highly targeted as long as you ensure that the person you are doing a swap with or buying a solo from has a list that is a good match for your niche.

    Most solo sellers will not let you do paid offers. So Suzanne is right when she says to make sure you have a paid offer on your thank you page to monetise the signups who opt-in for your free offer. You can get some solo sellers to mail to their buyers list - but as has been said on here, this can be very expensive, so make sure your funnel is set up to convert well.

        I personally love JV giveaways for getting subscribers! yes alot of these are freebie seekers BUT treat them right and they can easily be turned into buyers! For sure one of the quickest and cheapest methods of building a list!

    the best and cheapest solo ads I have used have been on safe swap,not been overcharged and they usually over deliver.

    In my own experience, Solos outside the most common Niches are
    Pretty difficult to strike.
    The Directory of ezines would be a good place to start looking!

    Also a another effective way is contact folks who you see are already
    Building a list in your niche and ask if they would mail out for you.
    You can just Google your niche, find who's Advertising and contact them.

    In my opinion, for non internet marketing niche, you may google for those that is doing similar but not the exact same niche. For example if you are doing fat loss niche specifically into eating healthy meal, then you may find someone in exercising to slim down to have bu solo ads. This method at least help you to stop going against head to head with the solo ads seller. Just thought those that are not in internet marketing niche may not be as open into sharing the list. But of course there are always exception.

    Whoever you go with for solo ads, make sure you can see user reviews. Some people doing solo ads are really shady.

    Safe-swaps and Reeds directory are good because they have a rating system and user reviews.

    Regardless of anyone's recommendation, you should try to buy the smallest clicks the solo seller will sell to try out their service and get a feel for how your offer converts on their list. I just bought a solo ad (based upon a glowing recommendation) but I only recieved 3 opt ins to my otherwise good converting squeeze pages. Regardless of whether it was my squeeze or the seller's list, it did not convert with his list. I am just glad I only bought his smallest offer.

    Thanks all for your answers. Well I've got like $1k to invest but I'd really like to go for some emergency non-IM niches and I'm looking for a way to accomplish this.

    I can go look for blogs in those niches which collect e-mail addresses and ask how much would an e-mail cost. Do I make arrangements by pay-per-click method or how does this go?
