Does anyone have any experience buying solo ads for Non-IM niches?

I'm interested in buying solo ads to grow my list (music niche) and I've checked out Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory I already have the squeeze page set up and everything. However, I've only been using free traffic methods. I really want to get the ball rolling.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience buying solo ads outside of the IM niche and what were the results? Would I be better off doing PPC, PPV, and FB ads?

    If you want to grow a list and grow it fast, I would suggest PPV/CPV traffic, targeting similar sites to your music site. You will be surprised how fast you get signups!
