Question about Google XML Sitemaps problem in Wordpress

INTERNET MARKETING

I am new to using Wordpress and I was just downloading all the plugins I need for my site, but when I go to Settings -> XML Sitemaps I Received two error messages saying:

1) There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable.
2) There was a problem writing your zipped sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable

It also says if I changed anything on my server or blog that I can rebuild the sitemap manually.

If someone could please explain why this is happening, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You need to change the permissions on the sitemap to make it writeable also sometimes it doesnt make a sitemap. So to rectify it I just create a blank sitemap.xml make it writeable then run it again and should be fine. Also do the same with the zipped one.

Could you please direct me on how to do that if you have a moment? I am very new to creating websites and IM in general, so I do not really know what that means. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Sure if you create a blank page and call it sitemap.xml if the program is not making it. Upload it via what ever ftp program you are using. Then change the permissions which if you are using filezilla its right click on the file and at the bottom it says file permissions change that to 755 then it should work
