Why is this Clickbank product a success?

Hey there.

I was browsing the Clickbank marketplace looking for products to promote, when I stumbled across this pearler: NATURAL CURE YEAST INFECTION, yeast infection treatment, yeast infection symptoms, cause of yeast infection, yeast infection pictures, yeast infection pics

It is currently ranked number 6 in the Health & Fitness category, has referrals of 96%, and a gravity of over 174.

And yet, and yet...it is probably the worst looking site I have ever seen. There appear to be no affiliate tools, either.

So can anybody shed any light as to why it might be so successful, especially when there are other products in the same niche which appear considerably more polished?

Sure, I'm not questioning the market hunger. But rather, why is it outperforming its competitors?

It could be a few really good affiliates who promote it well.

Content can overpower poor presentation if the need is strong enough.

There are some niches that spur a very compulsive buy, no matter what the sales page looks like. If you can provide a quick answer, you can get a quick sale. I'm quite sure that yeast infection is one of these niches. It comes down to who can get their answer in front of the most people needing the answer.

I looked at the sales page and it looks pretty decent. Simple and straight to the point, headline, questions, facts, testimonials, what you get, etc
If I had a YI, I would but that product for $27 hell I would even pay $97 or more. Good health is very important to most people and they will pay for it.

If you understand how CB gravity works, a gravity of 174 means there are around 174 active affiliates promoting, getting at least 1 sale from it. So the copy might actually be converting?

This merchant is very smart and probably stays away from IM advice. It is the perfect sales page for an affiliate because this merchant has no interest in stealing or diverting commissions from her sales force.

(No pop-ups or email list to sign up for and no distractions that pull you away from the main message.)

Only one simple action is required from the visitor; "a simple yes or no".

The merchant understands that we both can make money if I am allowed to do my job. The merchant also knows that many affiliates will promote such a site because it is not just a sales page, it is a money site.

Don't think the merchant is not building a list also. In fact, people are paying to be own her list with every sell she makes.

          Now how smart is that?

    Two reasons spring to mind:

    1. The affiliates could have created their own sales page and be by-passing the merchant sales page completely.

    2. I know ZERO about this niche but glancing at the sales copy it does appear to be well-written.

I tested four different products in this niche. The one you mention is the only one to produce more then a single sale from hundreds of clicks.

I really don't have an answer - only theories. Of all the competitors, it's the only one that looks like a "real" person wrote it. The others all look like exactly what they are - finely tuned and crafted sales letters designed to get the sale.

There's something to be learned in that for certain markets....

Maybe the lesson is copy sells NOT fancy pants graphics.
Can graphics sell without text? Of course not. Can text sell without graphics certainly.

I agree it could use polishing to make it shine more.
She starts with compelling headlines, great story, conviction, testimonials and offer.
Another lesson is maybe, start selling it too! 1/100 is not epic but, reasonable.

I think that's the main thing.

A woman searching on "cure for yeast infection" more than likely has one.

So, this product is what they want, when they want it. And, it's instant delivery.
they don't have to go shopping, etc.

Could be the "mom" thing, too. Haven't seen the competition.

Forget the fancy graphics, this is really great copy delivered with a 'heart'. The author empathises with her audience and tells a great personal story. It is believable and promises rapid relief at a reasonable price. If you were a sufferer, why would you not buy it?

She also sets out her credentials as a Health Researcher.

The format and structure are also well done. Look and learn!

For the same reason I'm not excited to hop in the car to go buy tampons for any of the 3 women in my house. Who wants to go to the pharmacy, ask the druggist for the aisle # for Yeast Infection meds, drop that box on the counter converyor belt in a line of 10 people all scoping out your "purchase".

        Avoid Embarrassment.

Condoms and KY prolly sell decently on line as well - for similar reasons.

From what I can see it seems to have a very well written sales letter and I'm sure their are some very knowledgeable affiliates marketing it to the right sources, be it search engine advertising or really google article submissions to article sites. It sounds to be a worthwhile product that can help many, so usually if its helpful to many, it shouldn't have any problem selling!

It is a really well-written sales letter - seems as if it's written by a real person, not slick and sales-y at all - although I'm not saying that I believe it WAS written by a real person.
Or that the testimonials are real. But it's VERY well done! If I weren't a cynical internet marketer I'd believe everything the writer says.

Here is how Vic Shwab puts it in "How To Write A Good Advertisement" (p.34,35)

To get attention with your layout you may do either one of two things:

    1. Make it so powerful, so unusual, or so dynamically dominating that it captures the eye despite the competition of other advertisements less unique or less positive in their impact.

    2. Or you may make your layout so uncommonly simple, sedate, or "nonprofessional" that its very res captures attention.

For example, over a hundred years ago, at London's most fashionable ball, gentlemen were strutting in the most ornate of all the frills and finery in their entire wardrobes. Beau Brummel had not as yet made his entrance. And everyone wondered how that incomparable dandy could possibly "steal this show."

Suddenly he appeared. Instantly his figure dominated the whole
ballroom. Yet he had merely gone back to simplicity. He was clad in
plainly designed costume of black and white.

    Of course, either the first or the second type of layout is an extreme;
but the more "neutral" your layout, the more likely it is to be passed by.

It seems to me that many IM/WAH websites are becoming neutral. They all have beautiful graphics with basically the same theme....money flying through the air...an explosion with money coming out of it... airplanes dropping money bombs...

I wonder when some of the sellers of these products will realize that heir site looks like all of the other IM/WAH sites out there...

Funny Jason, I've experienced the same thing. It has more to do with words, tone and how connected you are to your market than with the appearance in my experience.

The only exception to what I just said is that the appearance must get out of the way of the words - meaning the simpler, cleaner and more oganized the appearance, the better chance you give your words to do their stuff!

Some great comments here, when I first saw this sales page saw it I thought it was over simplified but it does read extremely well, which is probably why its having a great success. An unusual niche being explored, I can't say I've seen anything similar to it before, but its usually the unexplored niches that are the most profitable! When promoting affiliate links its always the health related products that tend to sell well, everyone wants to be healthy and agile! Interesting thread!

The content of the salespage sells. And there are desperate buyers in the market. Yeast infection is a pain for many ladies and if you can offer a quick solution, they do not really bother about how "nice" the sales page looks.

In fact, I have seen the best converting squeeze pages having simple clean look, without images.

This is definitely an urgent need, so if the copy is even close to the mark I imagine 80% of the battle is won simply by getting the prospect to your site.

I'll like to share my perspective on this and I suspect Chris has got it much closer ...

    And here's my revelation:

The more desperate the niche, the less selling you need to do

So in essence, these people (who are relatively more desperate than others) will seek out a quick solution and as long as price is within reason (actually rationality goes out the window in times like this), they'll buy it.

I have seen some extremely plain sales page convert at over 10% and the sales page are short.

The content is targeted and punch at the right spots of their prospects. A lot of times, it is about bringing the product to the right prospect. If your prospect is desperate enough, you do not need to hard sell. Simply offering the solution works perfectly.

For example, someone is looking for "a natural remedy to cure acne on back". And if you have an exact solution for his problem, the conversion will be fantastic.

So find a desperate need, and offer the solution and you will get an easy sale.

Hey, Kelvin, good to see you here again!

It's a very specific sales page which can be beneficial and detrimental to selling a product at the same time. As other posters have said, it is very well written, I think maybe its because the keywords associated with the the phrase "cure for yeast infection" are far more specific to a product need or want than any other long tail keywords out there. The product has the advantages of being exactly what a customer wants, and it offers instant delivery as well. Possibly catering to the work at home mom group maybe? An interesting post!
