What is more profitable: internet marketing or a minimum wage job?

I don't mean making $1000/month online because you are not working 40 hours a week online. But would the time spend working online, even if it's only 30 minutes a day, be more than $8/hour?

Because I remember ShareCash, spent at least 50 hours on it and only made $110. Then I recall working on Fiverr only 20 or so minutes a day and getting $100/month. So can IM or freelancing replace the worst possible "real" job?

There is a very wide range that can be made online that ranges from losing a lot of money buying ads, traffic, courses etc. to making millions. The answer to your question of which is more profitable IM or a minimum wage job depends largely on the individual.

Right, yes of course. This is true with most things. People need to understand that their time is money or at least related to money.

Depending on what your goals and aims are, you need to manage how you spend your time and what kinds of returns it brings in terms of profit.

Usually there is a curve at the beginning where a lot of learning and 'bulk work' takes place, but obviously the idea is to find the best 'converting use of your time' and replicate that.

Then again, I actually enjoy doing IM fulltime and if I didn't need/use it to pay the bills, I would be fine making $8 an hour because I enjoy it.

It's all about what you do with your time.

You could give 2 different people the same task.

    Bob has 10 minutes.

    Joey has 2 hours.

Guess who's going to put more effort into the amount of time they have? Most likely Bob. Because he knows he's limited on time and wants to make sure to finish the project, whilst Joey is going to most likely sit back and finish the project more slowly, but still has time left over.

I dare you to put 2 people into different rooms and try it out without telling them they are competing.

Now there's also the fact that Bob might rush to get the job done, but that's why you gave him 10 minutes.. guess what, you can give him another 10 minutes

Who wants to work minimum wage? Internet marketing can yield so much more money than that, it just takes time. You'll go nowhere working minimum wage jobs, what experience is there to be gained?

      Yep.

It's crazy how time can be perceived in so many different ways for the same project.

Here's something that I try to teach to people.

If you've never built a website, I want you to try and build a website in less than 1 hour. That means you have 60 minutes to figure out how and just do it but spending no more than $20 (domain and hosting).

IF you can't build the website in 1 hour, I want you to start over tomorrow and try to repeat the same process or try something different. Use any resources you can, but remember you only have 1 hour.

Funny thing, what would have taken someone maybe even 3 weeks to complete, sometimes takes the person only 3 hours of real effort. Of course it isn't perfect, but the point is that people progress a lot faster when put under stress.

Something you need to keep in mind is that when it comes to internet marketing, you need to be investing time and energy in order to make money.

If you think that you can work 10 to 30 minutes a day and make a living online, you will be better getting a real job.

Like starting any other business there are often thousands of hours for very little if any income, then as you 'crack the code' you're income will suddenly grow exponentially. This is why most people will never make a decent buck online. The second reason is that they're not good enough at the technical stuff, marketing and outsourcing.

You'll only make good money after the 10'th time you wanted to quit, but if you're not seeing progress in some way after each wanting to quit moment then maybe you should quit.

This is of course if you're doing some kind of passive income oriented business and not trading time for money doing services.

Internet marketing is just like a business (because it is one). You start off by making no money, except for that one customer that feels bad for your business and pays $10 just to get it off his conscience.

That first business sale takes how many hours to get?

But, once you start building your brand, you get more customers, and the money starts rolling in. If you are unsuccessful/starting out, or if you can't focus on IM, I would say minimum wage would be better.

If you have a good idea and you can stick with it, then I would say you can make much more.

If you are looking to replace your "9-5" Job, you need to think it through. Find a good mentor to trian you in the IM Niche or any niche for that matter. Take the time to do the research for your set goals. All these ebooks and leaning techniques, first of all, to purchase as many as you think you may need, can be very costly. Second, they make it sound like you only have to work less than an hour to make good money from a few clicks of a button. In reality, most online workers work long hours to meet their goal. My advise is to take your time to do the much needed research in getting your goals!

It takes some time to make big money from IM but if you work hard at it then you will and you will get to be your own boss. However, with a minimum wage job you will be working for the man and there is little opportunity for you to ever make big money from it. In my humble opinion IM is much better.

The problem most newcomers face is the steep learning curve in IM. Sure a minimum wage job pays regularly, but like the Braden said above, there is no scope for really making it big.

Who says you can't make it big in a minimum wage job?

To quote Louie Anderson from the movie Coming to America...

"I started out just like you guys - on trash. Now, I'm washing lettuce. Pretty soon I'll be on fries. In a year or two, I'll make assistant manager....and that's when the big bucks start rolling in!"

You have to think of internet marketing as an investment in yourself. Initially you will make less then minimum wage (unless you hit on something big right away). But as you get better and more knowledgeable you can quickly build up your worth to $20, $50, $100 an hour or more!

What can you do with your minimum wage job? Not much chance to earn a significant amount of money.

If you put 40 hours of ACTUAL WORK per week into any internet business, it will become profitable, theres no doubting that. In a month at that job you could make 1200 dollars, and a month doing internet marketing you could make maybe 500. But 5 years at that job you're making 1250 a month if you're lucky, and 5 years at internet marketing, 40 hours a week of hard work, you're the 1%.

I think the answer is always yes, but i'm not a person who can ever work another job.

    People make all different amounts.

Regardless what it is, it takes times. No successful business is built over night. Especially if you're starting from scratch.

Even the PPC ballers have to put in time to analyze their campaigns. To me the money is in the list. Once you build it big enough you can buy back your time.

It all takes initial work to get there.

I would keep the day job until you're banking a good amount, and then quit and spend the remaining time on your business.

I put in long work days on my business 7 days a week, but it's so much better then having someone tell me what to do.

All comes down to what you want out of life.

For the first year a minimum wage job would have paid more, as I was at the start of the learning curve. I was even in negative earnings with IM i.e losing money paying for a domains, software books etc, so I was earning -25 cents an hour, it was costing me 25 cents and hour.

In the second year I was earning minimum wage level, even this was dream as I was developing a wide range of business skills, better then any college could provide and I was earning minimum wage; a bargain. I would rather have done that than work in MacDonald's.

Now I earn more than minimum wage, but looking back I did this the hard way, I should have worked a minimum wage job for 25 hours and did IM for 25 hours a week, this would have been less pressure.

Let's cut it down this way....

If you are Highly Skilled and have a Good Job that gives you salary of 10k or more a month then I must say that it's stupid to leave your job and jump in the IM...

But if you have skills developed in IM and you don't have a good job let's say a job that pays you merely about 2500-3000 bucks and you know that your IM idea will start you making around 3000 bucks within next 2-3 months easily then I would suggest you to jump in and start it....

File Uploading Companies such as ShareCash, FileServe etc are not recommended at all for IM as they are just waste of time....

The best idea is to research the market and come up with your own Product or Product Idea that make your worth in the market as well as makes you money....

    All the Best....

    1. A solid Amount Proposition

    You can do both.

    However, here's the difference:

If you get the IM thing going it works for you. It works 24/7/365. It doesn't matter if you're there or sleeping, at home or on vacation. You have build a business that works for itself. E-commerce, for example, can be a pain in the butt if it's not automated.

A job only pays when you're there. If you're not there working, producing results, you don't get paid.

If you do both you work your job during the day and work on your IM businesses at night. Keep working on them until you feel you can quit your job. If you don't feel like your can quit your job, keep the job and keep working on the businesses. You'll have the stability of the job and potential of the businesses.
