What Converts Best In Video...

Hi Warriors,

I usually create my videos via powerpoint presentation and camtasia but just recently bought an iPad 3 and thought it was time to get my face on my videos.

What do you guys think...

Does real person video convert better than text/pictures & voice over, or does it just depend on the content of the video.

As a side note can anyone recommend a tripod for my iPad 3, instead of me holding it or resting it on something in the house.

It depends on how you do it, voice tone, body language and relevance of your subject.

If you want to sound sincere and genuine then your face is absolutely the best way to go.

I think yeah! real person videos convert more as compared to text/slide video, Because a person face in video increase the Trust factor of video drastically and makes it more prominent and entertaining. While text/slide videos are gets failed to earn trust factor easily. So i would say that you should get your face live soon..

You have to TEST, TEST, TEST.

I recently spent over $30,000 on advertising and tested over 200 different variations of a sales video and, for me, a 10-min Powerpoint video with words and minimal pics outperformed a real video. But that's for my message and my offer - you need to test both and pick the winner. Marketing 101 baby! :-)

A person in a video is a lot more attractive for the viewers.
But you should work with pictures, diagrams etc. to point out some information.
If you want your video go viral, try to make it funny and promote it in social networks.

Combine everything. Show your face up in the front or in any portion where it needs you to be shown there. Like the first minute introduction or on the last credit minute. There, you need to show up to gain the trust from your audience.
While you show the product or service, then you better show powerpoint about that stuff with your voice over explaining everything nicely.
People love video, but get bored easily if it is monotone. So, play exchange slide and real face there.
    Good luck!

I've had enough luck with presentation-based videos that I haven't gotten around to filming myself directly yet. But you'll never know which method works better until you have tested both.

I would agree that testing is key. As some WF members have already said, it depends on the subject and audience. Real person videos can be great when done effectively, but we all know ... not all of us want to be on video. And many of those who do so, shouldn't.

I purchase video-based training products fairly regularly. It does more to annoy me watching some of these talking head videos than building up rapport and trust.

Some of these real person presenters:

    - speak (or record) so low that I have to crank up the volume on my computer all the way just to hear what they are saying
    - speak as if they're reading from a script (and some actually DO read the exact same content directly from their text-on-background Powerpoint scripts)
    - speak too quickly so that some parts of their sentences jumble in an incoherent blob
    - speak too slowly so that they lose some viewer's interest
    - speak with a heavy regional or national accent that may affect the presentation delivery
    - give a dull, lackluster presentation that does more to disinterest or frustrate viewers
    - go on and on or bounce between topics and come back, without any structure
    - are unprepared and it shows (embarrassing)
    - don't look warm and engaging on video
    - don't give the aura of expertise or authority for their subject matter
    -

I know my own liabilities and would not be comfortable appearing on a video. For those of us who would rather not appear on video, there are ways to build trust and relationship with customers ... provide kick-ass content, keep in touch routinely with informative and warmly written emails and deliver outstanding customer support.

I would rather use presentation images, sound tracks and a professional quality real-human sounding speech-to-text solution to create instructional and sales videos.

I think either way could work but the content and the person's delivery style is important.

There is no real answer for that. Too many variables. You could have better conversions using either way. It all depends on the video.

Much more important to conversion is the script.

I just got a green screen set up and made my first video and personally I tried to have a nice energetic and appealing video. Down side, no script so I said uuuugh, a lot. I could have been more... commanding or authoritative I guess. I spoke a bit fast as I was trying to keep the energy up and I could have made a better video overall but hey it takes time to get all these things down!

Oh and one of the biggest turnoffs for me is poor audio quality.

      Cheers,
      Karson

As stated, there are to many variables. The best thing to do is to test. I've found it easier to look at what the best converting things you absolute know are working and then emulate that to start works well.

My personal opinion and desire is that I would like to see person videos.. You can tell much from the expression and the passion of the person that is talking right there to you

I personally like real people than just text or voice-over. But that is just preference. I have used both and both styles convert well. I think the most important part is the message and how you persuade your audience. One suggestion I would make is to use different characters for different niches. That way you do not lose authority. I also agree that the key to conversion is to TEST! Good luck!
