Product launchers: Here's an idea...

Literally every day I get private messages, emails and Skypes from people launching the greatest product ever, *today*. Or *tomorrow* and wanting me to promote it.

What ever happened to properly planning and respecting your JV partners enough to give them a week, preferably two weeks, to find a way to fit your promotion into their schedule?

I swear, everybody must think we're just waiting for something to promote and will jump on the first thing that falls in our lap. Personally, and I know this is true for just about EVERY active JV/affiliate worth their salt, I have at least a few dozen GREAT offers already in the waiting line. When I say *great* offers, I mean offers that I've already investigated, narrowed down, and feel will really help my customers and others on my list.

I'm all for the concept of "Money Loves Speed". But you need to respect the time and schedules of the JV partners you're hoping to attract.

It is frustrating, but at least they are giving it a go! although I got asked to review a product, due to my honest and blunt approach and anyone that knows me or have visitied any of my sites, knows I am the Simon Cowell of the IM world and speak my mind and will say something is rubbish if I think it is!

The products I review I always take action on to see if they are viable before promoting on any sites of mine or sending to my list! Now this seller asked me to do a review and I told him I will get back with a full review and consider affiliating with it in 2-3 weeks from the time he asked!! ..............well I got a really shirty reply saying 2-3 weeks is no good for him his product was launching in 2-3 days and stated he no longer wished to have his product reviewed from me!! (fine by me)

But as you stated above, why do people just think you will take their product on and promote it for them??? I'm happy to do reviews for any honest product but at least give me time to do it!! I can not review properly unless given time to pull it apart and take action!!! how do these people survive in the business world is beyond me!! and as a result I've noted down this sellers name and will avoid doing any reviews let alone buying any of his products!! we all love fast cash, but we all want a sustainable business first and foremost!!! thanks for the post!!

Well, in reality, most of them don't.

This is a honest statement if I've ever heard one ...

That's the power of being short sighted right there! So, he thought he'll never need your input in the future? I wonder how people survive in business with this attitude of 'it's now or never'.

It reminds me of some 'advice' I was given at age 14. "Never tell a girl off or call her names just because she doesn't fall for your moves. You never know where you'll meet again and under what circumstances. If you parted in good faith, you may have a chance. If you behaved like a jerk, well, let's say you will have a tough time".

Marketers should know that as long as you are in business, you'll need others to work with, one way or another. Telling someone off because they don't have time for your "urgent" project is just being silly.

I agree with you Gene, I'm relatively new to the WSO world but I'm planning on giving affiliates at least a week and half to 2 weeks notice before launch. I think it makes more sense for the product creator too because it allows more time for affiliates to come on board.

Wow that's honestly really helpful to read...seriously!! I haven't had any big launches or anything to that extent at all and that's a GREAT guideline to keep in mind in the future. Good share man.

Gene, I know I asked for your assistance, and probably rushed it through somewhat, so I do apologise.

Sometimes, what would normally take someone a week, might end up taking them a fortnight - because life got in the way.

    We're all busy

BTW, Im launcing soon - you in?

Thanks for the brilliant read, I also think that the extra couple of weeks is also helpful to create some bonuses to get behind the product you're promoting.

Well if it's a solid product with solid tools, I'll snatch up and spin a prewritten email and blast a list.

I don't need two weeks for that.

It's not about the ability to quickly do a mailing. Anybody can do that. It's about the promoter recognizing and respecting the fact that JV partners have many promotions already scheduled, and any new consideration will have to be checked and tested before recommending to valued customers.

I apologize to the original poster for being off topic!

Thomas I'd like to get in touch with you, can you pass along your contact information? I don't have enough posts to send you a PM. We were conversing on a post of mine a few days ago in regards to SEO/SEM sales rep comp, and you seem to have some great insights that I'd like to discuss. Please let me know the best way - Thanks in advance!

I am following a coaching program that recommends to give 6 weeks notice before launch day to a respective JV partner

    Is this about right?

I think 3-4 weeks notice would suffice for most people.

The OP makes a good point. Further, its the big affiliates with actual lists who already have launches on their calendar. Warriors with little to no prospects may be able to act quickly, but so what?
Note: I think 6 weeks is too long though.

It makes sense from the product launcher's end too. When I promote a product as an affiliate, I typically sell three or four times as many units if I have the time to carefully construct my campaign. I can create pre-sell teasers, a personal video, and final email for the close.

Gene, what you are saying makes a good amount of sense. Other than you already stating that money loves speed, I cannot think of other good reasons to plan a launch like how you are describing people have been. I am in 100% agreement with you, thanks for getting your thoughts out there, maybe more launchers will change their ways. This is also helpful for others who are considering launches as well!
