It's not PayPal's restrictions on India.

      It's India's restrictions on PayPal.

I say western union might be a good bet but I am not sure if the buyer will be willing to send the money other than paypal, because paypal is the most reliable way to transfer money.

It could be both ways but there's definitely a component of India's restriction on Paypal.

Paypal originally had refused to disclose transactions to the Govt and hence the Govt had limited Paypal (lol, could not help the pun - normally Paypal limits others claiming ToS violation, but this time Govt of India had limited them because they didn't want to take the legal step as per laws in India). And Govt of India needed to know all transactions over INR 25,000 (approx US $500) by the Indian laws.

Right now, I don't know whether Paypal finally agreed to report or whether Govt of India has lifted the limit (for all financial organizations, nothing special for Paypal probably), but the fact is that it is $3,000 now which is like INR 150,000 ballpark depending upon the exchange rate.

As many others pointed out, it has become $3,000 per transaction (thank goodness) and is no longer just $500. The months when it was $500 per transaction was a nightmare to me and many other Indian sellers like me. Luckily, its better now.

You may also go for Alertpay and withdraw your money in installations. Otherwise MoneyBookers is an option as well.

That is a bad sign. It is never recommended to sell a domain and use paypal. It's too easy for you to lose the domain and the money.
Once you transfer the domain, it's very easy to do a chargeback.

Yes absolutely. I was coming to ask this...

How can you guarantee that the buyer wont scam you by taking your domain/website by just asking for a paypal refund.

The thing is flippa already quoting in their website, when you prepare the payment receiving setup, they are not recommending paypal...and its risky too...

        Anyway your choice...I just reminded.

Even with the $3000 limit they will still limit your account and freeze it in case they see that a major payment has been made on your account. I used to consistently receive payments of amounts below $100. Just one payment of $200 was apparently enough reason for them to limit my account which was resolved however it is a real inconvenience. It is best to call their toll free number and inform them about the payment you are expecting so that they do not panic and freeze your account.
