Lets take the fight to google

I've been browsing around today, and I was shocked to find out how many adsense accounts were being banned by Google. I mean legit, white-hat marketers who had been using adsense for years.

There are some other methods to make money online outside of adsense, but it really is a blow to marketers when they lose their account.

So why not take the fight to Google. Most of Google's money is from advertising. So if a group o f marketers would ban together to from an ads network that gives back 98% of the profit to the publishers and has transparent, fair policies. And enough marketers jump on board and not use adsense for a while. Eventually, advertiser dollars will start to poor in.

It can be the "people's ads network". Fair, transparent, does not abuse its power. Can something like that be done or am I living in a fantasy land.

What an idea...but who will own such kinds of ads network? Google pays in the ratio of 2:1 and you are talking about 98% payment to publisher? Virtual dream......Practically Impossible....:-)

Well I cant speak for the ones who have been banned being that I still have my account but like I said, they practice all white-hat techniques. To lose a six figure income and Google won't even clarify why the account was banned just seems wrong to me.

Who says they were all white-hat? Those who were banned? Contrary to popular belief, Google simply doesn't ban accounts "for no reason". They just don't. They have absolutely nothing to gain by it.

If you step through it with an open mind and just follow the logic, there simply is no logic that dictates that they ban folks "because they feel like it".

Most of the bannings are a result of unintentional TOS violations. That's what's really happening.

Putting all your eggs in one Google controlled basket is a recipe for disaster.

I don't like big G's approach to account termination but hey, they make the rules and you agree to those rules when you sign up with them. That's the risk you are taking with them.

I agree 100% but Google is a very LARGE egg for most people even if they have other eggs. I guess the point I'm trying to make is if enough marketers banned together, then maybe we could form an egg that is at least comparable to adsense

Don't waste your time. It's better spent learning other traffic sources and learning how to diversify.

I've had an Adsense account banned for no reason, they didn't even justify why they did it. The words above are wise though, going up against Google won't get you far unless you have an absolute burning desire and a master plan o__o

It's a nice dream and fun to talk about...until you begin to really think about the enormity of Google. It would be like saying Let's all ban together to keep the sun from shining on our houses, weakening the roof shingles...Yeah, they are that big.

That's actually a pretty good example.

Your $50k a year (if it's anywhere close to that) won't put a dent into a $20BB a year advertising business.

I disagree. Ideas are contagious, and can spread like wild fire. Google is massive, I know. But they started off small just like us.

Are they big enough to write to your (in USA) Senator and Congressman and demand an anti-monopoly investigation? Legislation can make even G sweat. What if someone were to start a campaign to get all internet marketers to complain to their respective government control agencies? And for you folks in the EU, that bunch seems to be especially watchful for such things...just sayin...

I LOVE the idea of banding together against Google but not in this respect. I mean their disregard for communication is one thing but your adsense account could be barred for so many justifiable reasons it would cost them too much to put people like you out of your misery by employing the numbers of staff it would take to explain it.

I know one thing for sure & that is Google will slip up about certain things while they feel like Gods in their own self-made-government.

However, the USA is in tens of $trillions of debt so business is serious & I for one will be picky & choosy how I go about waging war against anything if it is not helpful to the bigger picture.

Okay so I hate the Panda, Penquin & all that inconvenience but there is a part of Google I respect, that is if they did not police the crud that gets stuffed onto the world wide web we would be more than bored with the quality of content we view...

However, has anyone else noticed now recently when you type in a search how shi..y a choice you get in that search?

For the same reason they don't publish their search algorithm. It would be like handing a burglar your alarm code and your bank account's PIN number.

Which prompts another thought for bigjara...

With the number of "IMers" trying to game, manipulate, scam and otherwise cheat Google for a 1/3 share, how long do you think it would take them to do the same in the People's Republic of Adland?

Fantasy land? Sounds more like the Peoples' Republic.

What businessperson of sound mind is going to set up an ad network big enough to even tickle Google for 2% return?

Even if English isn't your first language, I find it perhaps Freudian that you use the words 'ban' and 'banned' when you intend to say 'band'.

Google could kill the Adsense program altogether and scarcely hiccup. Now, if Walmart and a few of the other giants decided to join you, and take their search ads with them, you might have something. But that has as much chance in the real world as a flea's fart in a hurricane...
