Getting clicks but need the extra

Hi

Im using ppc and have been for the last month
Im getting a good amount of clicks but im not seeing that many conversions through ppc:confused:

Is my homepage screaming something that i cant see?:confused:

My ppc campaigns are for each page on our website eg fairy lights, aprons etc and im using long tail keywords. I would have thought using long tail techniques as they are more direct, would encourage the customer to buy as its what they are after.

Unless im missing something obvious that takes them off the site.
The bounce rate is ok though.

PPC might need a huge budget to see good results. Apparently 100 clicks is 1 conversions? But if using long tail keywords is direct to the customers, would it lead to conversions?

Advice would be appreciated.

Well, this comes down to a lot of factors really... product of course, but there a few steps on the way. Your ad copy first of all... you are getting the clicks, but what are they clicking for?

Your landing page... sales copy on the page, is it good?

The product itself.. is it nisched or general? High priced?

A conversion rate on 1% is not bad, but when using PPC it can sometimes be way too little. If I were you I'd have someone llok at my copy, from the PPC ad to the landing page/sales page.

    Hope it helps

From my point of view and I don't wish to be so blunt, but you need to ask yourself "are these the sort of products people will buy online?"

Personally, these are items that people won't search specifically for! and more to the point they are items you can pick up in most high streets, therefore your sales will be effected! Your domain name is good, and I think quirky is a good market, however your products in the words of Lord Alan Sugar what your selling is toot!

Try and get more gimmicky, more retro, more practical products, including current themes and gadgets.

Like I said, I don't want to pull your site apart, but you did ask and I want to be honest with you! apart from that though, its a well built site and easy to use, just think if you changed your product selection you would see more sales!

    Thank your for your comments

I have companies selling on my store as an additional sales platform so i dont sell my own products. The prices, products etc are all of the supplier. Ive built the store to promote these goods.

I like how you find the site easy to use which is key and ive made it fresh colours and easy to see whats available.

Ive done my keyword research and the products are searched for quite alot on a monthly basis throughout the UK so i believed there was a market there.

Im having orders on a daily basis but with ppc and my conversion tracking this method doesn't seem to be the top one or as popular as i thought it would be.

Id continue to run it using the long tail keywords but thought the response would have been far greater.

I find the site easy to use and fast loading too, which may get lost with my first suggestion. Might want to think twice on that...

I agree with JOSourcing. Although it is simple to use the interface shouts "I am an affiliate". Take a look at your competition e.g. ww.find-me-a-gift.co.uk

I think you need to build user confidence by portraying professionalism.

What ways could this be gone?

I really enjoyed the products. The only thing that stopped me from ordering was the interface. It didn't have the typical e-commerce "look" that I'm accustomed to, and as a result, I wasn't sure if this site belonged to an actual store, or an affiliate of some sort. Perhaps a more professional (albeit, complicated) interface would help. Split testing is definitely recommended if you choose to play with layouts.

Well, I don't know if I'm swayed by American preferences, but this example site has the "e-commerce look" I'm accustomed to: Gift Ideas: Father's Day Gifts, Birthday Gifts, Wedding & Anniversary – Gifts.com

Your store's look isn't that far away from what's at that site, so I think your design is on the right path. In fact, it has a great start. It just needs a tighter design... maybe something Web 2.0-ish.

I promise you, I was almost there. In the "real world," I was window shopping... I liked what I saw... I even peeked between the displays to check out the store's employees...

But I couldn't open the door to enter. I just didn't feel comfortable. Not yet...

Get a feeling i might have turned a lot of people away with the look :-/

I'm planning on adding a picture of myself on the about us page to make it more personal and comment on the rest of the team also.

Im not sure what my eCommerce package supports. ill need to look into this.

'eCommerce look' seems to be a white background with the width of the content quite small, am i right? all centre aligned in the middle of the page and flashing/moving images.

That sounds about right, except for the flashing/moving images. I'd leave those out unless they were absolutely necessary -- to attract attention to a particular product, for example. But the photo sounds like an inviting idea. Not many e-commerce sites add that personal touch, so you're already thinking about differentiating, but within an expected standard. (That's good.)

I can't think of much else. Perhaps a consistent use of "we," "our," and "us" in your copy rather than "I" and/or "me." The former will project a more professional image, yet enhance the planned photos of you and your staff at the same time.

Also, I can't stress enough the importance of testing. Don't replace the original site with the redesigned one without seeing how well the redesigned pages convert visitors, first.

    Good luck!

i really like this website. Its fresh and ive bookmarked it for Christmas. I like the blue and white and your sparkly logo. Its appealing.

If you have a newsletter i might suggest to put this on the homepage so people can put their emails in as id quite like to sign up to it for your new stock etc.

Im not a great user of all the different software so im not sure what eCommerce is but id shop here quirkie

The most important factor is that where visitors are landing after clicking your ad.

I would love to see the bounce rate that you are getting on Google analytics. If it is too high it means either your website is not providing the visitor what he is looking for or your ad is mis leading.

Can you PM me your landing page so that I can see.

    Thanks

i think Quirkies landing page is on their signature. I book marked it as looking for fairy lights and the landing page was directly on the fairy lights landing page.
