This is my method for getting floods of free, highly targeted, non-SEO traffic.

    I don't pretend it's suitable for everyone.

Another effective, scalable way to get targeted traffic is "PPC" (but some of that, like Google AdWords, is still "search engine traffic" and may still not convert very well, as SEO traffic generally tends not to, when you compare it with other kinds, I find).

You may find this article especially interesting: How to Build and Operate a Content Marketing Machine | SEOmoz

It follows along with the concept Alexa has laid out above. Content marketing isn't new - at least, not for many of us. It's the self promotion method I've followed with great success for many years.

EzineArticles syndicators (or re-publishers) have a very restrictive set of rules - Now I can understand the reasons for copyright infringement, etc. But what I don't get is the 25 articles per year per site/250 articles per year per site owner.

If a publisher is looking to post content, they are going to need a lot more than 25 measly articles - no matter how good they are. How does one go about getting unlimited syndicated content?

          Just wondering

You could try promoting offline. Promote through flyers, banners in public spaces and so on.

Dude...no one is going to check your site to make sure you're not using more than the allowed amount of articles. Also, many of the articles posted at EA are also posted at other article directories that don't have this restriction, so for all they know, you could have gotten the articles from one of them. It's a meaningless rule.

May I offer a theoretical explanation for it, then?

Ezine Articles' lawyer might have put that in the terms of service when they started, just to make sure that nobody can syndicate their entire content (or even their entire content in one niche) to set up an alternative article directory and directly compete with them by using their own content (which they might otherwise have been able to do?), so they put that clause in, not really intending ever to police or enforce it, but just to have it there as a bit of a deterrent in case anyone really decided to "get clever" with their content in a way that seriously bothered them or interfered with their income.

It's only a theory, and it's only my theory, and it may be totally wrong, but there might be some sort of explanation like that for it, perhaps?

    SEO is a bonus.

SEO is what you do once you're already making money.

I'm laughing at all the SEO gurus who constantly get slapped by Google. (Sorry fellas.)

I would look into buying traffic.

But, only when you have something worthy of promotion.

    -edit-

Okay okay, I'll give some better examples.

    Diversification is best.

It's impossible to give details worthy of your time without knowing your marketing budget.

I prefer a mix of media buys, ppc, and direct mailing. (You don't expect me to tell you the companies I use too do you?)

With experience, and some investment of $$, you can buy it. If you get the formula right, it can be the steadiest most reliable traffic.

The only killer traffic that generate good enough amount of traffic and fast enough would be a paid traffic as far as I know. The others, pretty much take time, unless you have a viral video or viral article that get so much views and shared.

Paid targeted/categorized traffic should be able to convert. The challenge is usually finding a legitimate service that can provide this. There may be a lot of offers lurking around here, but not many of them may give you what you are looking for and there is no way to tell if service is legitimate until after purchase and you actually see the conversions.

With that being said, can anyone refer to good source of paid targeted traffic?

a good way that I initially got (free) traffic to my site/s was by joining communities in the niche I'm in and building a reputation in each of these communities through contributing lots of free stuff, and helping out other people.

That started everything for me. So if you are in the IM niche, well, you just join other IM communities besides this one, and build your reputation in each of them.

It's a slower process, but it works a treat and it's easy when you play by each community's rules.

I'm glad that the OP has finally realized that trying to rely on Google's complicated algos to get traffic or using SEO is not exactly the smartest way to do things. I'm sorry if I ruffle feathers here, but I hate how everyone's so afraid of the "Big G", who, in my humble opinion, is nothing more than a corporate entity that has become "too big for it's britches".

I do IM like I run my farm. I do it all. When nature is in balance things work together naturally.. organically.

Marketing is no different. When my sales funnel is in place I use some paid traffic to get visitors coming. I put good information on my website to let the reader know I am an authority in the field and I have lots of passion for what I talk about. Repeat traffic exponentially reduces the cost of your paid traffic and good content will create repeat visits.

I write good articles and use syndication methods to get new readers. This will initiate another new traffic source that brings customers to my site for the first time.

I have an opt in box on every page and build a list to keep my quality information in front of my readers which is again a repeat customer I can market to.

With all this traffic my Alexa rankings will go up causing my Search Engine rankings to rise naturally. This is the SEO part of my traffic method. People are always looking for information online and I want to make sure my site is right their for them to click on.

Fake, auto software created backlinks with no traffic is the old method of SEO and is not going to work today to achieve top rankings. On the other hand traffic with no or just a few backlinks, good on page optimization will get you to the first page and most likely to the first spot over time.

With this much traffic, a good niche with lots of products to market... sales will flow.

Paid traffic I think is the best way to get targeted traffic fast. If you want to find out tons of traffic sources just go through the CPA section of this forum. That is how I found tons of real paid traffic sources. You'll have to dig but I learned tons of traffic sources from that section of WF. I have a huge list of traffic sources on my pc that is down right now so I can't list but a few that I remember such as:

      google content network - banners
      advertising.aol.com
      adengage.com
      clicksor.com
      buysellads.com
      blogads.com
      traffiq.com
      mediatraffic.com
      trafficvance.com - big deposit needed.
      leadimpact.com
      7search.com
also bing and yahoo merged - ppc

There are just tons of valid traffic sources on the internet.

Edit: this thread from 2011 just poped up to page one in the CPA section. This should get you started:
