Are Google short of cash? Probably not so why do this?

I use the Google Keywords Tool fairly regularly to check things etc.

Today for the first time ever for me, after doing just one search it automatically took me to an Adwords Sign-up page. Now it won't even let me do any more keyword research!

Currently I don't use adwords but it seems like Google is eager for me to do so. They must desparately need a few hundred dollars from me...

I am truly starting to get very irritated with google trying to force things on me.

Yes it's their site and data etc. but it is now bugging me how often they change things and "force" things on users.

If I want to use adwords I will. I don't need google pushing it in my face.

Don't waste your fingers typing and telling me how the sun shines out of google's bla bla and they can do whatever they want etc...

I'm not having a gmail problem today. Mail and spam flowing in just fine.

I love Google how could you say these horrible things about them? They will love you too if you invest your money in them lol

Nah! they are the beast for sure & I for one 100% agree that their constant changes are a pain in the butt. They do not care whether we like the changes or not though.

Google just sent me coupons good for $100 to reactivate paused Adwords campaigns. So they are always hustling for business. But to say they are short of cash? Not likely!

So you are totally against companies using trial offers or just Google using them?

Oh, so this was just a soapbox thread, not meant for discussion?

There's a blog for that .

Why not just sign up for adwords? It doesn't cost anything to open an account and you can use the tools all you like without actually running campaigns.

And if they want you to have free access to the tool they developed to help their advertisers be more effective, they will. They don't need more moochers shoving in to the trough.

Or are you one of those "information wants to be free" types?

Cry more. It isn't like an account costs you anything.

Did you read my post. It is the "change" one of many that becomes annoying.

Anyway, I'm off to catch a bigger fish than the tiddler in your pic

I read your post multiple times. Google changed the way they chose to do things, it bothered you and you whined about it. Then you tried to limit the discussion to other "Google sucks" types.

As for the bigger fish, may I suggest hiring a guide and fishing at night in Boca Grande pass? You could end up with a tarpon over 250# or a shark over 10' - but be careful. You really, really don't want to go overboard...

Big deal. Who rattled your cage?

There's plenty big fish where I go and they get caught...

You did. At least, you were the one who finally flipped the switch and set me off. Even the 'Google sucks' angle is more of the same old, same old. What 'rattled my cage' was the attitude that no one should respond unless they agreed with you.

Don't know anything about fishing in Sussex, but you are right about one thing - lots of big fish caught in Florida. The spring tarpon run is on now, so I was just offering a fellow angler a tip.

            Peace?

No you won't. John is seventeen feet tall and his head is the size of my car.

That fish is a monster, you just didn't get the proportion right.

        Honestly.

People always forget the second half of that quote.

"Information wants to be free - because it is now so easy to copy and distribute casually - and information wants to be expensive - because in an Information Age, nothing is so valuable as the right information at the right time"."
      - Roger Clarke's 'Information Wants to be Free ...'

      Or the Melkor version:
"Information wants to be free. But information also wants to be expensive. And entertainment wants to be paid. You're just cheap."

Information that something is possible is sometimes cheap or free. The "how" can be very expensive or time-consuming to learn, find or have done for you.

Typical inspiring, positive, helpful, response from you...sigh I almost cringe anytime I see people post their problems here, because I know there's always going to be negative responses like yours. To the OP don't listen to him

As one of the millions who've used good adwords tool for free over the years if they really have locked it down, that's unfortunate, google keeps getting worse and worse. I think the smartest move is try and work around them, granted it's not easy but in the long run it's the best way. Lists are fantastic because they're immune to googles tantrums and remove the power from them entirely, which is a good thing, for everyone.

It is marketing policy, they want good quality adwords people, if they make the world most money still they will do the marketing.. cause now a days there are so many PPC competition so Google taught why not they promote there own product.. that is the reason I am seeing every where Google adword promotion now a days..
